Acerca de esta escucha

With a new Afterword on the current state of the stock market, the ongoing debate over the “new economy,” and the larger implications of “irrational exuberance.”

In this controversial, hard-hitting account of today’s explosive market, Robert J. Shiller, a leading expert on market volatility, evokes Alan Greenspan’s infamous 1996 reference, “irrational exuberance,” to explain the alternately soaring and declining stock market. Shiller’s unconventional yet persuasive argument credits an unprecedented confluence of events with driving stocks to uncharted heights, and he analyzes the structural, cultural, and psychological factors behind these levels of growth not reflected in any other sector of the economy. Now more relevant than ever, this analysis is both chilling and convincing—a must-listen for the individual investor, the policy maker, and the investment professional.

  • New York Times Bestseller
  • One of Business Week’s Ten Best Business Books of 2000

"Should be compulsory reading for anybody interested in Wall Street or financially exposed to it."—The Economist

“A dose of realism that serious investors will ignore at their peril.”—The Wall Street Journal

“Irrational Exuberance [is] a dazzling, richly textured, provocative book…by far the most important book about the stock market since Jeremy J. Siegel’s 1994 Stocks for the Long Run, offering a cogent statement of the bears’ view of events to come. Shiller is not merely a bear—he is a grizzly.”—Business Week

I am listening to this book for the second time. There is a lot of information in this book, including facts and figures that I want to sear into my brain, so I am listening again. Shiller reads the book himself, so there is no mistaking what emphasis he wants to put on certain points. Highly recommend this book, especially if you are or will be investing in the stock market.

A lot of information. Really good book.

Schiller expressed an interesting and wholistic if somewhat pesimistic view of the role of the stock market in society, And how it might be reshaped for more social benefit.

This book is a must read/listen for all investors and/or economists. Robert Shiller describes in a very rational way the occational folly by the masses which creates investing bubbels in the economy.
During certain sections the narration is a bit lackluster but overall a decent performance.

Great content, ok but not great narration.

Bought it because it's a famous book, couldn't finish it. The tone of the narrator is really flat. I understand the narrator is the author who is a great economist, so I blame myself for not finishing it..

Hard-core finance read

The realities presented in the book should not deter one from the financial markets, but should make one aware of the realities of this part of our society for better navigation. Thanks.

Good book for realists.
