Acerca de esta escucha

Fazlur Rahman's Islam is aptly titled in that this audiobook constitutes an incisive and surprisingly comprehensive history and analysis of Islam - its history, its conflicts, its legacy, and its prospects. From Mohammed to the late 20th century, Rahman traces the development of Islam as a religion and, more importantly, as an intellectual tradition, offering both an easily understood introduction to the faith and an impassioned argument for its future direction.©1979 Fazlur Rahman (P)2009 Audible, Inc. It's a great book for students of knowledge. It offers a great review of Islamic history and some of the Muslim Countries obstacles to competing with the west

Dr. Fazlur Rahman was one of the greatest Muslim scholars and this is an insightful book.

Excellent Book on Islam

I dislike this book intensely. The description of the book on Audio webpage is misleading. Mr.Rahman wrote his book many years ago, in an archaic style with sentences so complex they do not lend to audio listening, with subordinate clauses within subordinate clauses. He also seems to be talking to an audience that is already very well educated in Islam, and fails to define many terms or concepts.Despite my basic knowledge of Islam and of history, I did not learn much at all listening, and became so frustrated that I deleted the rest of the book. Additionally he is argumentative with other scholars rather than educative to the student.
