I really wanted to believe that this author had created what he claimed and that is an objective, apolitical historical account of the events in Israel and Palestine that led to the October 7 massacre. So many avenues of study and academia are highly politicized, and I have been looking to add to my library with books that look at this from a nuanced, academic perspective. That is not this book.
The author starts at 1948, and completely ignores the preceding history of the region, namely, the rise and fall of the Ottoman Empire, the rise of Arab nationalism, the Balfour declaration, World War I, World War II… I could go on. Basically the author‘s message is “the Israelis are occupiers, the Palestinians feel bad about it”… And that’s supposed to be his two sides of the argument.
I have never actually gone so far as to request my money back from Audible, but I will this time. Complete waste of time.
NOT an Objective Historical Account
