This hilarious installment of the inimitable manservant Jeeves and his twit of an employer, Bertie Wooster, is one of the best stories written by the master of the pen, prank, and pun. When Bertie Wooster goes to stay with his Aunt Dahlia at Brinkley Court and finds himself engaged to the imperious Lady Florence Craye, disaster threatens from all sides.

While Florence tries to cultivate his mind, her former fiancé, hefty ex-policeman Stilton Cheesewright, threatens to beat his body to a pulp, and her new admirer, the bleating poet Percy Gorringe, tries to borrow a thousand pounds. To cap it all, there's a jewelry heist and Bertie has incurred the disapproval of Jeeves by growing a moustache. All in all, a classic Wodehouse farce.

After listening to every 'Jeeves' I can find (not only here at Audible but in Librivox as well), I have to say that while I love them all, this is my favorite.

this is another phenomenal book expertly crafted by PG Wodehouse and
voiced by the divinely gifted Jonathan Cecil
one of my all-time favorite narrators.
he, Jane Entwhistle and
Hugh Fraser
-those 3 are tied equally for spellbinding and sorcery
as far as I'm concerned
anyway the story is hilarious Aunt Dahlia is priceless and in rare equine
mixed with
basset hound form
at all times
the dialogue is so smart
I've copied things he's written and Incorporated them into daily life now
phrases like
'you interest me strangely'
now interest me strangely!
they just roll off my tongue now
-in fact I just can't wait for opportunities to use PG's words
the book is timeless
and time spent listening to it
is time well spent

it's well worth your time and money
as all his writings are

thanks Mr Wodehouse
for inventing a name like
Stilton Cheesewright!

Another supremely convoluted plot which, like most Wodehouse plots, produce laughter at every twist and turn. This being a later installment (1954) of the Jeeves and Wooster saga, the only caveat (for those who haven’t already done so) would be to start in on one of the earlier books; say, Carry On, Jeeves (1925) or Joy in the Morning (1946). Otherwise, the Lady Florence Craye/Stilton Cheesewright continuity here might not deliver the full comic voltage it should. Jonathan Cecil turns in another fine performance with another great script.

Jonathan Cecil is the quintessential narrator for Jeaves & Wooster! His delivery is so perfectly crafted for each character that you feel as though it were a full cast. Listen to the books in order as situations continue to build with each instalment.
