This was an excellent read (or listening, Audible in my case), it was well worth my cost (I refuse to buy audio books that are less than 8 hours in length), and it kept me hooked. I never disclose any book parts or spoilers, but this was absolutely fascinating. It somewhat reminded me of the old movie, "House on Haunted Hill", as the characters were all sought out to stay at the house based on their writing similarities..
Of course, as much as I would love to see the perfect ending in any book, ALL the good guys didn't win. I still enjoyed the storyline, the writing style, and the narrator. I hope to see more books as good or better by Scott Thomas in the future.

Bernard Setaro Clark brought to life this absolutely compelling story writen by the astounding Scott Thomas!!!! What an amazing journey through these characters lives! Through Kill Creek Houses lives! Edge of my seat suspense, grusomely detailed gore and after thought horror! Meaning... it pleasantly kept me awake into all hours of the night, thinking/imagining the terror that befell each and every protagonist/character of this story!!!! What an excellent ride!!!!

Kill Creek by Scott Thomas was an original and unique take on the gothic horror tale. It follows a group of four horror writers--Sam McGarver, TC Moore, Daniel Slaughter, and the legendary Sebastian Cole--who are at the top of their game in their respective niches. They're all invited to come to a house of ill repute on Kill Creek in Kansas for an interview by a megalomaniac billionaire internet tycoon who's in love with all things horror. Each writer has their own style: Cole is the literary, older man, McGarver is more modern, but balances Cole's approach with a splash of the grotesque, Slaughter is a young adult Christian writer, and Moore is the extreme, over-the-top, wild sex and ultra-violence writer (think Clive Barker on steroids).

They all come to the interview at the old house, all carrying their own baggage, and some causing friction. It's all good TV (or internet live-streaming, if you will). They each experience something in the house, as the interview is a bit of an ambush on their personal lives and careers. Then tragedy strikes one of the writers as they are leaving the house.

In the following months, each one is driven to the brink of sanity by an entity which is auditioning them for something it very much needs...and then they all come back to the house to confront it.

I can't say more without leaving spoilers, but this was a well-written powerhouse, with crisp dialogue and a genuine unsettling feeling which builds throughout the narrative. It's all presented believably and with characters you actually care about, even the more unsavory ones. It really reads like the classic gothic tales of yore, merely transported to a modern setting. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good horror story, gothic or not. You won't be disappointed. Genuinely creepy with some authentically scary moments. Well done, Scott Thomas. You're now permanently on my radar.

NOTE: I listened to the audiobook version as well, and the narration is excellent. If you like audiobooks, this is a win. Get it.

Phenomenal Modern Gothic Horror Story...

Good, classic ghost story.

Traditional haunted house versus intrepid group of explorers. Creepy back-story and palpable foreboding. Most certainly good enough for your credit, if that's what you're in the mood for.

It is so hard to find genuinely scary ghost stories - and this isn't one. But it comes close enough that I really enjoyed it. Will it scare the hell out of you? No, it won't. I'm still looking for a ghost story that'll keep me from walking through my house in the dark, though. (Fingers crossed)

First off, it was very well-written. The prose was top notch, the characters distinctive, the atmosphere rich. Which in an era of self-publishing is very very refreshing since the last several books I've picked up have been sorely lacking. The plot itself was somewhat cliche... a group of horror authors in a so-called haunted house with a ghostly presence that.....(you get the drift). However, the "what" and the "why" do have a bit of a twist, and regardless if its a tale told a hundred times, it still stands on its own as an engaging read.

I don't think I've been scared by a book since, well, ever (even though that is always my main objective) and there were moments in this book that were very eery, scenes reminiscent of The Grudge or The Ring, but not enough to actually scare me. It did, however, manage to hold my attention and I listened to it within a couple of sittings. For a debut novel, this was definitely above the norm.

The narration was also above-par (he kind of reminded me of Ray Porter in some instances) and I would easily listen to something else by the narrator. Whether you're using a credit or buying it outright, you really can't go wrong. I would recommend Kill Creek to anyone who's not afraid to add a little horror to their lives.

I thoroughly enjoyed this one. The narrator did a good job voicing the players in this story and made it to where I couldn’t help but root for them early on.

I wouldn’t say it’s a groundbreaking horror novel by any means, but it’s campy and fun in all the right ways, and perfect for an October read/listen.

It is a bit of a slow-burn, so if that sort of story isn’t your thing, you may want to look elsewhere or listen to audio as opposed to reading the hard copy.

This was my first time experiencing a Scott Thomas novel, and I liked it enough to purchase his follow-up, Violet.

I really enjoyed this book from front cover to back, it kept you listening all the way through it, I really enjoyed the narrator, he was awesome. The story was put together really well also. it sent chills down my spine many times and the ending made me gasp.

I almost turned it off in the beginning but decided to stick with it. I am glad I did.

This definitely has a feel like Burnt Offerings and Amityville but with a twist.
