He was last in his class at the Earth Corps Fleet Academy.

Lieutenant Brian Huffman is seen by most of his Captains and peers as a joke, but through quick thinking he brought a rebellion to a violent end. Years later, although still not seen fit to be an officer by some, he was picked to solve a double murder. Or was he picked to be the next target?

Follow along as Brian and his friends fight their way to the stars to save mankind. Rushing from the frozen reaches of Neptune to the terror-filled tunnels of Mars stopping a second rebellion.

Helped by two Artificial Intelligences, one who thinks she's Irene Adler and her brother, who wanted to be Hal-9000. All under the watchful eye of the ship's cat with his own ideas of justice.

What did you love best about Last in His Class?

I thought at first it was a simple who done it but it turned out to be more. It was an interesting story and the ending wasn't easy to see coming which I always enjoy.

Great character development, engaging story, and intriguing plot twists. Excellent narration. Can't wait for the sequel.

Would you consider the audio edition of Last in His Class to be better than the print version?

I enjoyed the print version, and this is my first experience with an audible book. I really enjoyed listening to the narrator and visualizing the story as he related it. I don't know that I would say one version was better than the other......both were entertaining.

What other book might you compare Last in His Class to and why?

It is comparable to the Star Trek series of stories in that there is a distinctive military structure and a number of space age gadgets and equipment sprinkled throughout the story line. There are clearly "good guys" and "bad guys" as the story unfolds.

Which scene was your favorite?

I got a kick out of the interaction between the main character and the ship's cat. It would never have occurred to me that space exploration would involve a character such as a ship's cat. It adds a degree of humanity and humor to the story.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I enjoyed the story as it unwound, and did laugh at times. No crying......it isn't allowed in outer space!

This was a well written sci-fi story, and the narrator did a great job of relating it in it's audible form. I highly recommend this book.

What a fun "Who done it" mixed with Sci-fi! My two favorite genres seamlessly mixed together and NO LOVE INTEREST!!!! Now if only the author will write some sequels . . . I enjoyed listening to this book, both for the story itself and for presentation. The narrator's voice was soothing enough to relax me without putting me to sleep like so many do. The action in the storyline had me trying to figure out possible conclusions even in my sleep. Made for some interesting dreams over the weekend. Ha!

Where does Last in His Class rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's excellent. Not up to David Weber or Craig Alanson, but a solid first effort.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Last in His Class?

The ending was pretty epic.

Which character – as performed by Stephen Day – was your favorite?

The main character was really good. It was 1st person, and Mr. Day did a good job capturing his dry wit.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. It wasn't too long. The pace was good. It moved from one event to the next with little wasted motion.
