Vintage cookware and cookbook collector Jaymie Leighton has agreed to help her sister clear out the house of a deceased older neighbor, and she's thrilled at the prospect of discovering antique kitchenware and other treasures - until she opens a vintage trunk in the cellar and finds the remains of a teenage girl with a cleaver buried in her skull. Jaymie just wants to cut and run, but the victims were both high school classmates of her sister when they disappeared, and that makes Jaymie the perfect person to help the local police investigate the killings. As she dredges up old memories and even older rivalries and jealousies, her list of suspects grows. But Jaymie knows she'll have to whittle it down to just one, and fast, because someone has decided to cut their ties to Jaymie - in the most fatal of ways....

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Her voice is VERY distracting when she is trying to display emotions and feelings. Comes off sounding very fake and whinny. Sounds fine when she is just reading.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Had hoped too, but had to keep stopping, narrators voice got on my nerves.

Any additional comments?

I like the series, that is why I kept getting the books. But really can not get thru another one with this narrator. Will get any further ones in print.

LOVE THIS BOOK, AS I HAVE EVERY OTHER ONE IN THE SERIES. THE COLD CASE ASPECT OF THIS ONE, WITH INSIGHTS INTO THE RELATIONSHIPS OF MANY OF THE CHARACTERS IN THEIR TEENS ADDED SOME DEPTH TO THE BOOK, AND LEFT ME A BIT MORE PATIENT WITH BECCA. I AM OFTEN AMUSED BY WHAT SOME PEOPLE COLLECT, AND THIS ONE DID NOT FAIL TO ADD TO THE LIST. I ADMIT I WAS A BIT PUT OUT WHEN ZACH LEFT THE SCENE AND WHEN DANIEL STUCK AROUND TOO LONG, BUT JACOB WAS WORTH THE WAIT, AND I MUST ALSO ADMIT TO BEING A LITTLE TEARY AT THEIR VOWS (SO SUE ME, THESE CHARACTERS BECOME "REAL" TO ME). SO, WHAT'S UP WITH HEIDI? I WILL LEAVE THAT RIGHT THERE. READ THE BOOK! ENJOY THE BOOK! I AM OFF TO BUY THE NEXT ONE IN THE SERIES.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The characters and plot are well developed and multidimensional. I look forward to the next book.

This cozy mystery is intricate and packs a punch. Likeable main character, well-developed supporting characters with emotional depth. A very enjoyable whodunit with poignant romance. Typically I dont like a lot of romance but this was touching. Bravo!

Outstanding narration! Emily Woo Zeller deserves an award.

Have enjoyed this series before, as the plots, setting, and characters are good. And love all the vintage kitchenware descriptions. However as this is the book with the wedding all the flowery language about feeling emotions to the depths of one's soul got old.
