Okay, so I just finished listening to this audiobook, and wow. It really made me think. You know, sometimes you just feel like something's not right, like someone isn't being straight with you? This book talks all about that feeling and, like, how to actually figure out when someone's lying. The narrator did a really good job, easy to listen to and understand. It was kind of scary, honestly, realizing how much sneaky stuff is out there. But now I feel a little more ready, you know? Definitely worth a listen if you ever feel confused or tricked.

As an advocate who often finds myself navigating complex interpersonal and professional dynamics, This book really struck a chord. The book doesn’t just explain that people lie we all know that it breaks down how and why, in a way that’s easy to digest but hard to forget. The 39 types of lies outlined in the book gave language to behaviors I’ve observed (and sometimes even tolerated) for years. What sets this apart is the focus on dark psychology and subtle manipulation tactics things that often go unnoticed until real damage is done. Loxley doesn't just present theory; he offers practical tools to recognize deception in everyday life, whether it's in personal relationships, the workplace, or the media. As someone who works to protect others from harm, I found the insight into manipulative behavior patterns especially valuable.

As an athlete, I live in a high pressure environment where trust, teamwork, and reading people correctly can make or break a season. This book really hit home for me. It broke down the different kinds of lies people use some subtle, some more dangerous and explained them in a way that’s easy to understand but still backed by psychology. What I appreciated most is that it wasn’t just theory. The book gives you real tools to recognize lies in everyday life whether it’s in relationships, the workplace, or even in the media. I’ve definitely seen some of the behaviors Loxley describes in people I’ve worked with or even competed against.

So this one goes hard into the 39 types of lies people drop on you every day from harmless white lies to full on psychological warfare. The breakdown of how folks lie to get what they want had me pausing the audiobook like yep i’ve heard that exact line before. The parts about manipulation in relationships and gaslighting actually hit home and reminded me of my ex who used to twist every convo and made me think i was nuts.

Great listen!!
