Acerca de esta escucha

Something terrible, unspeakable, immense has come to Menzoberranzan and is leaving death and destruction in its wake. The primordial of Gauntlgrym stirs, sending Cattie-brie and Gromph to Luskan and the ruins of the only power that can keep the beast in check. The damage of the Darkening, of war, and of a demon-ravaged Underdark has sent cracks out across the North. Some of this damage may never be repaired.

And Drizzt is going home. But not to Mithral Hall. Not to Icewind Dale. He's going to Menzoberranzan. Bruenor is ready to march with him, bringing along an army of dwarves to end the scourge of Menzoberranzan, but Drizzt needs to see what's happening there. The dwarf army may not be necessary. The City of Spiders might already have fallen to the demons and their wicked prince. But even if that's true, what's to say the demons will stop there?

Maestro picks up where Archmage left off, plunging Drizzt into his most dangerous adventure yet and with all the action, adventure, beloved characters, dark elves, monsters, and demon princes Drizzt fans adore.

Quick Spoiler Warning
So this one in particular deserves a bit of analyzing as well as praise. The problem that I really have with it is that we are made to fear Demogorgon from the very start, having summoned him in the last novel at the very end. Great cliffhanger, I must say. I actually looked him up and it turns out, he's quite the imposing figure. However, we hear of him and his rampage to escape the Spider City and then.... nothing. We don't hear from him, we don't see him through the entire body of the book up until the very end of the third act, instead, we finally see him, there's a decent fight scene and then we're done.

The real saving grace from this book is that what story is there is still really good. Drizzt going to his homeland in secret is a really good idea for a story, especially with all that we've seen from the Dark Elves in the last few trilogies. The way that they infiltrate and then survive some of the more deadly priestesses is very invigorating. The new Matron Mother of House Baenre is really a sight to behold and a very deadly enemy.

But what about the Prince of Demons? He's mentioned in passing throughout the book, but we get nothing other than that. There's no scenes of him killing other demons, no imposing threat other than that he is lurking in the Under Dark. We get all of this talk about him and then we switch to where they are fixing the prison holding the Fire Primordial. The first thought in my mind, if there is anything that could combat Demogorgon, it's the Primordial. That would be something I would pay money to see. That never comes. We get the fact that they are going to set the Primordial free to fix his prison and then we move on to see Drizzt freak out and get enchanted with the power to defeat him, and that's it.

It's not a bad novel, it just seems like Salvatore brought about a massive enemy and either forgot how he was going to get rid of him, or needed an excuse for Drizzt to have an exit strategy, and the problem is that the seams in this plan are wide open. Again, this was still par for the course as far as the Legend of Drizzt goes. However, it could have been so much more.

Honestly, it gets my recommendation, but it doesn't need it. If you're trudging through the books like I am, you're going to read it. It is not a speed bump, that much is certain. Read, enjoy, and drink water.

Demo who?

Once again R. A. Salvatore takes the reader / listener on a journey to the Under Dark. Meet breath taking Drow, evil demons, and beautiful landscapes only to find yourself locked in a very long life and death battle for the city of Menzoberanzan. (sp?) This is one hell of a ride so hold on tightly...
