Acerca de esta escucha

The latest book in the award-winning Black Knight Chronicles is a raucous ride through the city of Charlotte's seedy underbelly with the most unlikely crime lord ever.

Jimmy Black's knack for stumbling into the right place at the wrong time has landed him his dream job or worst nightmare - Master Vampire of the City.

Almost everyone that works for him wants him dead.

His best friend isn't speaking to him.

His girlfriend is now his ex-girlfriend.

And the Vampire Council has appointed a watchdog who'll decide if he lives past Thursday.

He has a kidnapping to solve, monsters and demons to fight, and a whole new crime empire to figure out.

Then there's Lilith... .

Join Jimmy as he tries to put his (un)life back together and stay alive long enough to save the world. Again.

Author John G. Hartness is the Epic and Manly Wade Wellman Award-winning writer behind The Black Knight Chronicles from Bell Bridge Books, as well as the Quincy Harker, Demon Hunter and Bubba the Monster Hunter series. In his copious free time, John enjoys long walks on the beach, rescuing kittens from trees, and playing Magic: the Gathering.

loved it. was never a boring moment. excellent addition to the series. performance, as usual, was spot on. I'd put Mr russo in same league with Jeffrey kafer and Jeff hays, which says a lot. got a bit tacky in a deus ex machina sense at the end, but keep listening and u will understand how the author makes it not only necessary, but entirely appropriate in the context of the book

great addition to series. outstanding performance

My only gripe about this series, is that the books aren't long enough.. I absolutely love this series and as the story goes on I gets even better..I love all of the characters and find myself invested in them....This book was action packed on so many levels and just an overall great journey from start to finish...Looking forward to the next book!!@

Awesome

What did you love best about Man in Black?

Without getting into spoilers this is a John G Hartness novel. There is no status quo and everyone in extremis will react in surprising ways when the crap hits the fan just like real life. I love it. I hate it. I always on the edge of my seat and I love every minute of it even when I hate it. It's one hell of a ride every time.

What did you like best about this story?

Hartness always asks and answers a question in his novels and short story. The question that this story answers is what would Jimmy Black be like without his friends and family supporting/holding him back. Without spoiling the story we see a very different side of the character. I like it.

What about Nick J. Russo’s performance did you like?

Everyone has a unique voice that is well acted. You can't ask more than that from a narrator.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It's too good for that. I love to savor it in chunks.

Any additional comments?

This isn't Bubba The Monster Hunter Season 3. Each story doesn't have a beginning, middle and end allowing the listener to jump in anywhere. This is book six. Start with book 1 and work your way forward as each book is a chapter in a very large novel.

Any additional comments?

I'm a big fan of Hartness and this one didn't disappoint. His style of humor carries throughout the story, but doesn't get in the way of the plot. There is lots for our protagonist to do as he is now in charge. Plenty of action as several story lines come together. Narration is spot on as usual.

Fun in Black

Hartness becomes a better author with each new novel! This one was outstanding. looking forward to book 7.

The Black Knight Chronicles is just one of several urban fantasy series that author John G. Hartness writes. I think it’s amazing how prolific he is. It doesn’t seem like there should be enough time in a day for everything he produces. Even more amazing is the quality level of the writing. “Man In Black,” which is book 6 of The Black Knight Chronicles, lives up to the bar that Mr. Hartness has set for himself with his writing. I personally didn’t like it as much as some of the previous books in the series, but I did like it overall. “Men In Black” resolves a few loose ends that were left from previous books. Jimmy Black became the master vampire of the city of Charlotte in book 5. In book 6 he learns being the master of Charlotte is going to be a lot more complicated than he first thought.

If you are a fan of urban fantasy stories, “Man In Black” is definitely worth your time. If you’re already a fan of John G. Hartness’ work, you will get exactly what you’ve grown to expect from him.
