Acerca de esta escucha

Paris, 1917. The notorious dancer Mata Hari sits in a cold cell awaiting freedom...or death. Alone and despondent, she is as confused as the rest of the world about the charges she's been arrested on: treason leading to the deaths of thousands of French soldiers. As she waits for her fate to be decided, she relays the story of her life to a reporter who is allowed to visit her in prison.

From Indian temples and Parisian theatres to German barracks in war-torn Europe, international best-selling author Michelle Moran, who expertly balances fact and fiction (Associated Press), brings to vibrant life the famed world of Mata Hari: dancer, courtesan, and possibly spy.

another great retelling of the story of a historically fascinating woman. Michelle Moran excels at this. enhanced by the excellent reading Zara Ramm it is captivating!

wonderful!

Just kind of a sleepy tale of someone who seems so intriguing. It just didn’t flow with a timeline either

Not my favorite by the author

I didn't care for the main characters but wanted to know the fictionalized story of Mata Hari. I prefer other Michelle Moran books but this wasn't bad. Sort of repetitive when it comes to the character, so it tells me that the book could have been edited to be shorter.

Loved this book! Poor Mata Hari, such an interesting character, a legend and this book gives a realistic performance.

Throughly enjoyable

I've always admired Michelle Moran's ability to bring historical characters/events to life. While I feel like I learned quite a bit about Mata Hari, I didn't feel like the character was as well developed as Moran's characters usually are.

Interesting, but not her best.

this book did not endear me to Mata Hari. it was not it's intent, but she was a spoiled, liar that cared nothing for the "little " people of the world. was she a traitor? who knows...but it was very possible.

entertaining enough...

amazing spin of history and told well by Michelle Moran. The woman never had a chance.

I bought this book because I had just finished Rebel Queen, also by Michelle Moran and I LOVED it. I have always wanted to read about Mata Hari and I thought this would be a good opportunity given that it is by the same author, BUT... The narration is so bad that I just couldn't get past the first 2 hours!
Miss Zara Ramm is a total miss -pun intended- on this work, she rushes so much that it seems as though she'd get paid more the faster she read. There is no emotion, no expression, one never knows when the characters have changed because they all sound exactly the same, and frankly, she might as well have been reading the instructions to assemble a flat-box item she is in a rush to get set. It is a pity because this is probably a great novel that has been ruined by a terrible narrator. Please, would you find a great voice actress and re-make it? I know for a fact that she is going on my black list of narrators so I never have to waste a credit because of her, again.

I must say that I only gave the story 2 stars because I didn't finish listening to it; it is unfair, I know, but I had to rate it and I can't give it five stars if I only listened to a little less than two hours.

Good? Bad? I May Never Know...
