He will have to find unlikely allies if he is going to save his new friend and help her build a new home.

Loved it.

1.) Idle conversation. There are times when the characters find themselves at a juncture, an "in-between point," where they have a reasonable amount of time to catch their breath, but the idle chitchat goes on unusually long, while I'm thinking "surely the bad guys are catching up with them by now?" Pleasant banter notwithstanding, I DO like the characters' camaraderie.
2.) The part with Gomierez whispering to Laser he "took something from her." I don't want to assume, but given the trend in story writing tending towards including realistic drama to make it more appealing, I felt it might've had to do with rape. I don't want to assume, but my mind was stuck on that and I almost couldn't finish the story. I have heard a lot of friends of mine talk about their victim-experiences, so it's become a sensitive topic for me, so much to the point the mere mention is a potential conversation killer. But regardless, I made it through and I'm thoroughly enjoying the books. Can't wait to start the next one!
Love it! Great sci-fi adventure!
