Acerca de esta escucha

Agent Franks of the U.S. Monster Control Bureau is a man of many parts - parts from other people, that is. Franks is nearly seven feet tall and all muscle. He's nearly indestructible. Plus he’s animated by a powerful alchemical substance and inhabited by a super-intelligent spirit more ancient than humanity itself. Good thing he’s on our side. More or less.

Sworn to serve and protect the United States of America from all monsters by one of the country’s founding fathers, Franks has only one condition to the agreement: No matter what the government learns of him, no matter what is discovered concerning his odd physiology or the alchemy behind the elixir that made him, the government is never, ever allowed to try and make more like him. Such is absolutely forbidden and should the powers-that-be do so, then the agreement is null and void.

Project Nemesis: in a secret location, using sophisticated technology and advanced genetic engineering, the director of the very agency Franks works for is making more like him. And the director is not content with making one. Nope, he’s making 13. Now all bets are off, and Hell hath no fury like a monster betrayed. Particularly if that monster happens to be an undying killing machine capable of taking out vampires and werewolves with one hand tied behind his back.

And he still is. MHI is so fun to read. Oliver Wyman does a great job narrating. This story is all about Franks is so much fun. I'm not spoiling it, so if your a MHI fun, read this now!

Franks is a mystery...

This series is so exciting. The author's imagination and deft ability to describe action and visuals make each book fun to experience. And,the writing is tight.

What creative descriptions, done so smoothly that the exciting story flows with bends, twists, and deeper layers added to previously introduced characters.

I'm glad to have reached the last of this series, although it is left off in a "to be continued" ending with two characters ending the book with a conversation alluding to a plan they are working on.

I didn't mean to read the past few books in a row, in a self-indulgent binge, but they are like potato chips . . . can't eat/read just one.

Top notch plot - continuation with great new ideas

This was GREAT!
Yeah. Okay. So in this one the crew from MHI get little more than cameos. But that sure doesn't detract from the whole MHI storyline, nor does it make for anything less than a MUST READ (LISTEN TO) addition to the whole MHI universe. In fact, I think that this might have become one of my Personal Favorites yet!
Not only does Correia finally give us the backstory on Franks (which is far more convoluted, interesting and straight up stranger than I could have ever imagined!) but we get to see the "bad guy" MCB Feds in a whole new light. --- Why would a bunch of men and women be willing to risk their lives and be so dedicated to protecting our world from supernatural horrors (while dealing with all the typical government bureaucratic backstabbing and power grabbing BS) for a crummy government paycheck, when they could just as easily be getting filthy rich collecting bounties for the same job like MHI? = Yeah, THAT takes a very special kind of mindset!
My hat goes off to the troopers of Correia's MCB!
I sure hope that he does other stories dedicated to them!!!

Oliver Wyman's performance (as always) is Totally TOP NOTCH!!!

Where does Monster Hunter Nemesis rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Probably one of Correia's best books so far. Simple, but super fun

Have you listened to any of Oliver Wyman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

He is by far my favorite performer when reading audiobooks.

Correia makes it again.

I was really hoping to read a MHI story, but this was really a Franks story. In fact MHI has only a very small part in the entire book, which was a disappointment. Overall this really was a "back story" book.

The book did grow on me and I was pretty happy with it overall.

Not what I expected

Fun. Enjoyed immensely. Not another run of the mill urban fantasy. When is the next edition?

Great range of voices.

This is an excellent book, one of the best this decade. Larry Correia is a great author, especially when writing action scenes. Oliver Wyman does a great job as the narrator. Excellent work all around!

Excellent. Best Monster Hunter novel yet!

These novels never fail to envelope me so completely I start to question my own surroundings. Not out of fear and paranoia though, but because after reading one of these novels I'm left with such a kick... feeling of euphoria, I'm convince I'm ready to bring it right up there with Owen and Julie!

I want to be a Monster Hunter!
