Acerca de esta escucha

Cassie spends her days watching Grandfather and Caleb in the barn, looking out at Papa working the fields, spying on Sarah feeding the goslings. She's an observer, a writer, a storyteller. Everything is as it should be.

But change is inevitable, even on the prairie. Something new is expected, and Sarah says it will be the perfect gift. Cassie isn't so sure. But just as life changes, people change too. And Cassie learns that unexpected surprises can bring great joy.

More Perfect than the Moon invites us back to the Witting family farm, visited in the Newbery Medal-winning Sarah, Plain and Tall, Skylark, and Caleb's Story. With her lyrical prose, Patricia MacLachlan writes about a family's boundless capacity for love.

Reseñas de la Crítica

"As always, MacLachlan's lyrical prose conveys volumes in a few well-chosen words. Solid, believable characters face classic dilemmas, yet the ending feels neither pat nor predictable." (Booklist)
"Another heartwarming installment in the saga of the Witting family, first made famous in Sarah, Plain and Tall....In true MacLachlan fashion, the spare, graceful writing sparkles with fresh images, and the first-person point of view rests firmly with the child." (School Library Journal)

Thank you to Ms MacLachlan and Ms. Close. A beautiful story that needed the continuity of Glenn Close as the narrator. I love the story of this family so much. This series is a joy!

A lovely addition to the series

Having an abiding love for the 1990s ‘Hallmark Hall of Fame’ television films of the first 3 books in the series and recent vision loss, I picked up the ‘Sarah, Plain and Tall’ collection on audiobook. It was at that time I realized there were more stories in the series and bought this one as well. It is just as beautiful as its predecessors.

The story of the Witting family’s prairie life as chronicled by each child in turn is my favorite thing about the series. The mantle has now passed to Cassie to write her stories. Cassie, however, laments that she has nothing exciting to write about, so she embellishes her tales with a bit of fiction. MacLachlan writes an outstanding story of a young girl finding the world outside herself.

I can’t imagine any other voice for the narration. Glenn Close delivers a perfect performance.

Highly recommended.

Where does More Perfect than the Moon rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I've listened to several books over the past few years. This one, though read by Glenn Close, whom I greatly admire as an actress, is not one of my favorites. I found her voice as Cassie a bit annoying.

Any additional comments?

Overall, the reading of this book is a little too
