The study entitled “Nepali Media, Gender, and Future Policies: A Case Study of Women Journalists Based in Pokhara” has aimed to study the increasing participation of women in media. It aims to study the roles, responsibilities, challenges, and opportunities of women journalists at media based in Pokhara. The study has been carried out selecting fifty women journalists from different Radio stations and newspaper offices of the Kaski district. Both explorative and descriptive research design were used in this research. Various data collection techniques and tools, such as interview schedule method, observation, survey method, data analysis, and presentation for the collection of primary data were used. Secondary data and information ere extracted from the different published and unpublished sources, such as journals, books, and articles as per the requirement of the research. The editors, station managers and directors of media institutions were taken as key informants of the research.

The findings of this study reveal the lack of gender friendly media policies in media plus the reflection of how women are viewed in society, lack of job security and gender friendly media policies, lack of support, patriarchal ethos, and improper working schedule. In media, there is an urgent need to achieve real equality in every area, equal pay for equal work, protection for working women, fairness in Career advancement, equality of spouses with regard to family rights and the recognition of everything that is part of the rights and duties of citizens in a democratic state. A great development in the field of journalism and communication channels have an important role to turn the traditional age into dynamic modern age by empowering media women.
