An actor researching a role. A cupcake shop owner with a broken heart. Can he convince her she’s more than a stand-in heroine?
Cassidy Erickson refuses to obsess over the fame-chasing ex-fiancé who left her at the altar. Instead, she’s focused on making her new cupcake shop a success. Then the unthinkable happens. Jase Larson - A-list actor and co-star of her heartless ex - shows up at the family ranch to research an upcoming role.
Jase’s career is taking off, but years of chasing the perfect role hasn’t filled the emptiness in his heart. When he visits Sunset Plains to prepare for a cowboy film, it feels like the place he was always meant to be - especially when he meets Cassidy, the stunning cupcake shop owner who can’t seem to stand him. Too bad it’s all temporary and he’s returning to Hollywood in a month.
When a freak lighting storm fries the appliances at Cassidy’s cupcake shop, Jase becomes her unexpected hero. But Cassidy can’t shake the fear that she’s just a fill-in heroine. Can Jase convince her that he’s really a country boy at heart before he loses her forever?
This is a full-length sweet/clean contemporary romantic comedy that will delight listeners who love Hallmark movies. Each audiobook in this series by USA Today best-selling author Lindzee Armstrong can be listened to as a stand-alone.
This story was previously published as Cupcakes and Cowboys. It has been revised to connect to the No Match for Love series, and expanded so that it is now double the length of the original!

Tiffany Williams has become as much a friend as the characters are to me. I cannot imagine anyone else narrating this series as well as Ms. Williams. It is always like returning to a familiar place when I start a book narrated by her. Ms. Williams creates a movie in my mind as she brings the story to life.
Out with one actor, in with another one

Jase Larson is a successful actor who's come to Sunset Plains for 4 months to prepare for his next movie role. He's a method actor so he wants to learn all he can about ranching before they start filming. At least that's what he tells himself, but truthfully, he's thinking of leaving acting behind. It's not that exciting for him anymore. According to interviews Seth Harrington has given, he and Jase are best friends which means Cassidy wants nothing to do with him. Can Jase prove to Cassidy that she can't believe everything she hears and that not all actors are scum?
To say Jase and Cassidy have a rough start is an understatement--her parents didn't tell her he was going to be staying/working at the ranch for the next few months. She wants nothing to do with him, mostly because she believes he and Seth are best buds, but they aren't. Unlike Seth, Jase is honest, what you see is what you get. He's a really good guy and keeps surprising her by his actions. Their blossoming romance is almost derailed when Seth suddenly shows up to bring Jase back to Hollywood to start working on the movie. Does Jase still want to be an actor or has he found that ranching and Cassidy have brought meaning back to his life?
I enjoyed the story but thought Cassidy was a little too rough on Jase without finding anything out about him and believing everything Seth said in interviews. She should have known not to trust anything that Seth said. I really liked Jase especially when he helped out Cassidy in her bakery the morning after the power went out, and helped her get a good deal on the new refrigerator and freezer. This is a sweet, clean romance.
The narrator Tiffany Williams does a great job with this series. I can feel the character's emotions with her narration.

UPDATE--re"read" AUDIO version:
Listening to this immediately after hearing Book 8, I really enjoyed the segue of Jase, a side-character from the cruise, into the lead. And, surprise! The heroine is none other than the sister of the cruise VIP coordinator! Didn't get a chance to enjoy "Match Me by Christmas" yet? No worries--this story stands completely on its own. I should point out that narrator Tiffany Williams, a favorite among voice artists, does her usual superb job, adding Oklahoma drawl to a captivating story.

MY TAKE
Another winner by Armstrong. I read and loved the story of Cassidy's brother Tanner and was curious about the references to her and Jase. My heart broke for her. I've known too many women in her position who supported their boyfriends or husbands in pursuit of their career goals only to be cast aside when they achieved them. Jase is such a great guy and a perfect fit for her.
Tiffany Williams did a fabulous job on the narration, as always.
