Acerca de esta escucha

No more apologies for being a man! Bestselling social commentator Anthony Esolen draws on timeless wisdom to defend the masculine virtues of strength, drive, ambition, and determination in building and upholding civilization itself.

It’s time to end the apology tour for traditional masculinity. A generation of young men and boys are being raised in self-loathing, taught that the core of their identity as men is not only abhorrent but the fountainhead of humanity’s ills.

In No Apologies, veteran author and professor Anthony Esolen issues a powerful defense of the virtues of masculine strength. From the thankless brute force that erected buildings, paved roads, and cleared ground, to the boundless energy of youth that compelled centuries of global exploration, to the father’s embodied authority as protector, director, and exemplar of law and justice, Esolen shows how civilization has rested upon the strength of men.

Wizened, accessible, and powerfully articulated, Esolen draws on two millennia of historical thought, citing giants like Plato, Augustine, Aquinas, Twain, Solzhenitsyn, and others in a vigorous and timely defense of the masculine ethos.

Anthony Esolen speaks truth in a matter of fact manner on important topics without modern day fear based qualifiers. Much needed in 2024 and beyond

Anthony Esolen is a modern day gem

The author has a way of saying the common, often politically incorrect, truth in such a profound way. Highly recommend for anyone. Not just men.

Common sense yet profound

A tour-de-force—as a father of 3 sons and one daughter, I’m so thankful for this book. Anthony Esolen argues clearly and forcefully on issues I’ve felt were true, but had a hard time expressing. Specifically, he makes strong arguments for the importance of men with regards to their strength, teamwork, passion/drive, and selflessness. The ending of the book is especially strong, Esolen makes some points I had never considered before on why God is presented as male and not female in the Bible.

A must read for anyone concerned about the over-feminization of our society.

Most Important Book of 2022!

It is about time a book like this was written. Esolen writes with authority and reminds us of reality; a good man bestows honor on his community and family. May good men be reminded of their worth. May women read this and find a good man.

It is about time…

Good and necessary. It’s unfortunate that the obvious has to be written down but society has “progressed” beyond what’s obvious and needs to be told again

The topic of masculinity is important for our times. The main point can be summed up with “Weak men create hard times. Hard times create strong men.” It has definitely encouraged me to drop complacency and not take for granted what my forbears have done. Thought provoking for all men and maybe some women too.

Timely and Necessary

This is an unapologetic apology for the fact that human civilization depends on the strength of men and that patriarchy is a creational and inescapable reality. Highly recommended.

Unapologetic Apology for Virtuous Manhood

I’m sick to death of the echo chamber of fake-feminism that pervades throughout society-bitter women who call themselves feminists yet renounce every trace of femininity. It’s refreshing to hear a masculist call that out and reclaim the glory of manliness while making, wait for it…., No Apologies. Men and women should give it a listen!

A truly inspirational read!

From the intro to the end, No Apologies opened my eyes to how men have been slowly roasted over the fires of shame for being a man. The book chronicles the way the masculine is redirected from selfish means towards sacrificial vocations aimed at the common good. Roads, dams, pipelines, construction, military, and so forth. Without diminishing the strength of the feminine, the aptly titled “No Apologies” sounds a clear call to men of all makeups to appreciate and apprehend the good of the masculine.

A provocative return to reality

A very well written book using old world language and present day examples to pointedly articulate a modern problem and its solutions. A must-listen for every man who wants to be his best and leave a mark on society.
