Reseñas editoriales

In Old Money, Nelson Aldrich presents an insider's account of what it means to be born into one of America's wealthiest families. His account of his family's history shows the good, bad, and the ugly of being in society's upper crust. Robin Bloodworth gives a strong performance with his easy pacing and blue-blood diction. He heightens the audiobook's elegant and thoughtful tone. Overall, Aldrich's story is absolutely fascinating and important for anyone who has thought about what it means to be rich in America.

This well-written and interesting story is written from an Insider's viewpoint and you get a good sense of what expectations are placed on the family offspring as a result of inheriting a family name, associated wealth, and a continuing patriarchy. I do not agree with one reviewer that the author is bragging about his wealth. In fact, the wealth seems to be more of a burden, especially as the new benefactors try to live up to the outdated expectations. From my non-wealthy 'marketman' perspective, this book gave me a view into their world and I appreciated it. There are plenty of insights you will only find from an insider like this author.

Nice Insights on Old Money Families

Trying to be politically correct, the trust fund author cuts down his ancestors in revisionist history. Pathetic and sad.

Bitter, trust fund author

This audiobook is riddled throughout with hideous mispronunciations. It gets so bad that one wonders if the lack of even the most basic preparation is at the heart of it, or if it’s just a terrifically ham fisted effort at a satirical reading. A book this important deserves a real reading by someone capable of speaking clearly and pronouncing proper nouns, famous names, and even basic conversational vocabulary correctly.

A Cold Read, Clearly

Too much of an introspective guilt trip by author. Kept hoping but never got interesting,

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I couldn't get past the negativity of the forward. I started listening to all this bragging about who he was and where his family was from and I just went "Ugh!" I really haven't gotten to listen to the point of the story yet because I was so annoyed by the forward of the book

What was most disappointing about Nelson Aldrich’s story?

I was looking for books on the habits of old money, not bragging of old money.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Refund me my listening credits, it was a total waste of my goals.

Once you here the forward, it's a total downer
