I found this book to be well-written without being pedantic about use of the 12 Steps in recovery and relapse eating disorders. It's also laugh-out-loud funny and clever. The book was more than I had hoped to find as I struggle with my disease in relapse. This author has the street cred from his own stories as both sponsor and sponsee. He brings the experience of the big number weight losses and the strength of hard work needed after a relapse destroys that success and having to try again. And again, I loved his rejection of the motherly unconditional love crutch, and instead offering the sympathetic but pragmatic "fatherly" love of "what have you learned and what action can you do to repair it. Most importantly I found hope that I was able to not only better understand my own baffling relapse, but through committing to the recovery footwork, grow into a better version of myself.
