Acerca de esta escucha

Star Force is called to arms again! Outcast is a new beginning, the first book in a new spin-off series.

Many peaceful years have passed since the Macro Wars ended. Most of those who fought against the heartless machines have aged - but not the ingenious artificial construct known as Marvin. His insatiable curiosity is as strong as ever, and he’s brought home fresh perils to humanity’s doorstep.

The new Saga in the Star Force universe begins with Outcast, the longest book in the series. A full-length novel of military science fiction by best-selling authors B. V. Larson and David VanDyke.

Rigs son is Very Much like his Father. A world of Bears! and another of Bird People. New bad things to fight. Lots of action. I can't Wait for the Next One!!

Cody Riggs is an adult now and off on his own adventures with Marvin. He's a chip off the old block and Marvin is just as funny and mischievous as ever. We see a couple of old characters and lots of new aliens and "rings"... It ain't easy living in the shadow of Kyle Riggs, so it's kind of a coming of age story for Cody. Luckily he met Marvin as a child and knows how to deal with him.

I'm so happy to have this spin off. I always wondered what Marvin would be getting up to once Kyle went back to the farm. Give me more please!

Cody Riggs and Marvin FTW!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely

Any additional comments?

This was done very well. Usually when they change the main character it all falls apart.
Great idea to keep Mark Boyett,

Great Start!

doc Larson I was thinking you could make some of your novels the "choose your own adventure" type that would be a new twist to audio books

new idea

This book feels like both a reboot and a sequel. It was enjoyable and opens an entirely new chapter in the Star Force Universe. I look forward to many more to come.

Marvelous Marvin

From the very first Star Force story, I thought B.V. Larson was great. Each book is a bit formulaic, but his creative ideas twist and turn in unanticipated ways. And, his major characters demonstrate the foibles, genius, and angst of the human experience in very trying circumstances. He carries this forward into the next generation of Star Force. Cody Riggs, who we learn is Kyle Riggs' son, is forced by circumstances to take command of the Valiant. The problem is, Cody is an ensign in the Star Force Space Navy and just recently graduated from the academy. All he has is book learning, his inherited genes from his dad, a gift for tactics and a burning desire to succeed. Like his dad, he has girl problems. And, like his dad, he worries about his own decisions and capacities. However, he grows into the role of ship captain in a star system 500 light years from earth with a new unknown ring to pass through. Boyett does his usual excellent job of narration.Bring on the next installment.

Does Not Disappoint

Like I stated above. I loves his books. they are the equivalent of romance novels for sci guys like myself.

love this writer and all his books.

Rising like a Phoenix from the ashes the narrative cycle is renewed!
I felt that the stories of Riggs, Sr. and the nan-ites was growing a bit stale.
Riggs, Jr. Is the story redoux with the ability to move new characters into new and less constricting environs with new challenges.
I am not sure what the future holds as Mr. Larson has added a co-writer (ghost writer?) and I think that while this new twist of a story is welcome and enjoyable it is not new or different enough to keep my attention for long.
The issue confronting any author is that the competition is both intense in terms of the talent able to break thru much more easily with the ease and exposure of electronic publishing, and in terms of the breadth of material available to pursue in so many traditional genres, novel new genres and cross-genres.
The expectations of we readers has climbed to new heights and the most valuable thing we possess is our time. I will not waste it on mediocrity and venues/forums like Audible allow me the luxury of seeing what my fellow readers/listeners think of a potential read/listen. I can listen to a sample. I can even return a certain number (six in six months?) if I am very displeased.
Viva le Audible!
Power to the listener 👊.

Riggs' Pigs: 😱

For those of you who have become familiar with Larson's work, you can expect more of the same in here. However, one would think that Cody would have some differences from his father, but he's just slightly less physically strong, does the same shit, makes the same choices, and has the same success rate. Thankfully, Larson figured out how to write good female characters at this point.

It's no Undying Mercenaries, nor is it as good as the preceding book, but it's more of that good space battles and boarding actions we've all come to love.

Cody Riggs is no different from Kyle Riggs
