Acerca de esta escucha

What went wrong in the O.J. Simpson double-murder trial? Former prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi dares to lay bare the bungling he perceived in the case. Incriminating evidence was never presented and lapses in strategy left prosecutors Marcia Clark and Christopher Darden at a disadvantage. These are just a few of the fatal errors that led to a victory for the defense. Listen as Bugliosi weaves his own final summation, laying out the evidence in its proper sequence and forestalling or rebutting the ploys of the defense. Bugliosi is familiar with high-profile murder trials, his most famous one being the Charles Manson case, which became the basis for his book, Helter Skelter.

A well thought-out, informative, eloquent, and detailed portrayal of true crime.
This delivery is persuasive while including comic relief.
Bugliosi is the absolute master of the criminal mind, explanation and proclamation of information.

Pure genius.

guilt "beyond a reasonable doubt.".

The audio kept cutting out and skipping through the book. I listen to a lot of books and this has never happen before.

After the recent death of OJ Simpson, I took it upon myself to take a look back at the events of 1994-95 through the lens of hindsight. Bugliosi’s arguments here are, of course, outdated and narrow, but they are also a stark reminder of how much reckoning has occurred since this “rebuttal” was written. So many more details emerged and things happened after this writing - chief among them the civil trial that found Mr. Simpson liable for the murders, and then Mr. Simpson’s arrest and conviction for theft and attempted kidnapping. I’d be interested to know what Mr. Bugliosi would have to say about the case NOW, knowing how things played out. But I kept wanting to pound my fist and tell the (very good) narrator that he had it all wrong - that the verdict of not guilty was celebrated by the Black community because this type of brutal murder in reverse - white on Black crime - went unnoticed, and unpunished, during the time of slavery and Jim Crow and right up to today. The defense got lucky in a lot of ways, and they played their cards cleverly for sure. But it’s only in the fullness of time that ANY of us can really understand what this case was really about, and why it went the way it did.

Glimpse into a time capsule

I don't agree with all.of his opinions and I'm not convinced OJ is.guilty. However, if you can get past his hatred for Simpson, he does a great job explaining why the prosecution failed to get a comviction.

This is a concise read

Will recommend to all my friends and family and those that still think
Mr. Simpson is innocent...

Outstanding and compelling story

Had me chuckling the whole way. The way in which he describes the error and incompetence of the prosecution in this case, is really hilarious. Because he’s right!

Vincent’s writing style in this book...

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Or alternative title of how everyone involved was a bungling idtio and within 10 minutes i was smarter than all of them.

OK, he admits right off the bat that (1) he is very angry about the Simpson case and (2) he did not want to write this book. Boy are these two points obvious in this book.
His palpable anger and bias is one thing, but the narrative feels like it took him about 1 hour of preparation. This is not a book, this is a rambling diatribe. I did not even ever figure out what the 5 reasons OJ got away with murder were, other than everyone associated with the trial was incompetent, and that Vincent figured everything out after only 10 minutes of listening to the lawyers involved in the case.
I mean it is one thing to say the prosecution should have done this, but the constant self-aggrandizement that within 10 minutes i figured out that this is what they should have been doing is just nauseating.

one angry man..

What made the experience of listening to Outrage the most enjoyable?

I really liked the narrator because he read with such passion about the subject matter. You forget that he is the narrator and not the actual author. I also loved all of the behind the scenes information that was never told to the jury or to the public. And why not?

What did you like best about this story?

It kept my interest, expecially on a long drive to Las Vegas. I didn't want to miss a word. Understanding everything that happened in this case from this book was eye opening.

Which character – as performed by Joseph Campanella – was your favorite?

Their was no one character, but I really enjoyed his performance.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

What went wrong!

Wow. Loved every minute of it!

For anyone in the least bit interested in the Simpson criminal trial, this is a must-read. Bugliosi was an accomplished prosecutor in his early career and was able to dissect the work of all the lawyers in the Simpson case with clarity, efficiency, and great feeling. If he had been the prosecutor, I believe there would have been a conviction. I was sad to hear of Mr. Bugliosi's passing, but I look forward to reading more of his books.

Astonishingly Good
