Acerca de esta escucha

Grafton and Carmellini are back, battling terrorists on the high seas alongside a top-notch team of Navy SEALs in an action-packed tale by New York Times best-selling author Stephen Coonts.

A luxurious vacation cruise to the exotic locales of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden turns into a nightmare for passengers and crew when their ship is suddenly attacked and captured by a band of bloodthirsty Somali pirates. An initial rescue mission ends in failure, and the decks are covered in blood. Unless they are paid a ransom of $200 million within seven days, the pirates threaten to execute all their hostages. But information gleaned from a captured Al Qaeda operative indicates that there is a far more dangerous conspiracy afoot.

Once the ransom is paid, Islamic militants intend to swoop in and slaughter the passengers in an orgy of terror, hoping to provoke a massive American military response that will set the Muslim world aflame. Jake Grafton is assigned to negotiate with the brutal pirate chief while his right-hand man, Tommy Carmellini, and a team of CIA and Navy SEAL operatives mount an undercover operation to save the hostages and keep the United States from being maneuvered into a murderous war.

Good audio with Grafton

The beginning & end are well written but the middle drags with too much unnecessary detail

Good Grafton Book

Would you listen to Pirate Alley again? Why?

YES!!! Not only was it interesting but I would be looking for anything I might have missed the first time.

What did you like best about this story?

The characters were real.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

That's how I judge all good books if I don't want to put it down and this one of those. The answer is YES!!.

This was a fast pace story.

The performance is a little stiff but by the time you get a few chapters in you hardly notice.

Another decent story.

I never thought I would be a Stephen Coonts fan yet, this is my second book I've read by the author and I enjoy them as a deviation from usual affair with world apocalypse stories. They have strong characters that can over come any challenge. The stories are action packed like a Bond novel. They may be far fetched but they are certainly entertaining and this story delivers.

Pirates Ahoy!

Stephen Coonts does not disappoint, and Audible and Brilliance Audio live up to his standard. I really enjoyed this Audio book.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Perhaps someone new to Coonts might enjoy this but I felt it was a pretty weak efort, both in writing and in performance.

Would you ever listen to anything by Stephen Coonts again?

Possibly.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I felt the performance was weak and his voice characterizations didn't fit.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment with the book.

Any additional comments?

I did listen to the whole book in the hopes that I would get used to the reader, but I'd be hard pressed to recommend this to anyone.

Unimpressed

I've been a Coonts fan since "Flight of the Intruder". I've read them all, including the one where Coonts hops around the US in a Stearman. This one has no character development. Fighter technology is an interesting topic. The size of bullets and which gun to use for which job, not so much. The characters are recycled. The bad guys are one dimensional. The Teeth of the Tiger is the one where I finally said, I don't have to read any more Clancy books. This one is it for Coonts.

A dull shoot 'em up

This was a waste of a credit. I have read all of his books and Coonts is one of my very favorite authors. I think this is the worst book he has done. The story was not that interesting and the narration was irritating. If you like Coonts, you will be disappointed with this book!
