Acerca de esta escucha

"A soft breeze fluttered the white, blue, and red Russian flag in front of the U.N. mission. I remember when the Soviet hammer and sickle flew there. I kind of miss the Cold War. But I think it's back."

Radiant Angel

After a showdown with the notorious Yemeni terrorist known as The Panther, John Corey has left the Anti-Terrorist Task Force and returned home to New York City, taking a job with the Diplomatic Surveillance Group. Although Corey's new assignment with the DSG - surveilling Russian diplomats working at the UN Mission - is thought to be "a quiet end", he is more than happy to be out from under the thumb of the FBI and free from the bureaucracy of office life.

But Corey realizes something the US government doesn't: the all-too-real threat of a newly resurgent Russia.

When Vasily Petrov, a colonel in the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service posing as a diplomat with the Russian UN Mission, mysteriously disappears from a Russian oligarch's party in Southampton, it's up to Corey to track him down. What are the Russians up to and why? Will Corey find Petrov and put a stop to whatever he has planned before it's too late? Or will Corey finally be outrun and outsmarted, with America facing the prospect of a crippling attack unlike anything it's ever seen before?

Prescient and chilling. DeMille's new novel takes us into the heart of a new Cold War with a clock-ticking plot that has Manhattan in its crosshairs.

Reseñas editoriales

Editors Select, May 2015 - My favorite wise-a** former detective John Corey is back! In Radiant Angel, Corey is working a supposedly 'quiet end' job following UN diplomats. But as Corey says himself, 'I can make any job interesting. Or stressful.' When his current assignment Vasily Petrov (codename: Vaseline) gives him the slip (pun intended) it leads Corey to believe that something sinister is at play. Having faced many types of adversaries in his past it's now John Corey vs. the Russians in a game where the stakes couldn't be any higher – the city of New York. –John, Audible Editor

A fairly straightforward not terribly imaginative story but enjoyable nevertheless.
Love the narrator. Love the John Cory character.

I had hoped for more

If you could sum up Radiant Angel in three words, what would they be?

John Correy Rules

What was one of the most memorable moments of Radiant Angel?

The boat in New York Harbor.

What about Scott Brick’s performance did you like?

I have always wanted to ask Scott Brick if John Correy is his absolute favorite character that he gets to read. It just seems to me that Scott puts more and is more comfortable reading this character then any of the many others that I have heard him read.

Any additional comments?

Another good John Correy book. Nelson, keep up the good work.

John Correy Glows Again

I'll start with this: Nelson DeMille's John Corey is one of my favorite literary characters. DeMille didn't disappoint on this one--keeping Corey true to the egotistical, but never say die, character that has developed over the course of several novels. If this is your first encounter with Corey, you may not appreciate him as much as you should, but stay with it, and go read the appearances in DeMille's earlier novels.

I gave it 5 stars, because I love a clearly defined good guy going after a clearly defined insane, ready to take over the world bad guy. DeMille inserts elements of James Bond into a thriller that you just know will end with the bad guy losing (no spoiler here--that's the genre), but how it all unfolds is what makes DeMille a great story teller.

It's a bit fluffy, but totally engaging. You won't be disappointed.

Corey's personality and thought processes came through clear and help propel the story line. Enjoyable kept me listening.

Well done

The story kept us guessing and the miles passed while we were immersed in the adventure. The narrator was great. We highly recommend this audio book.

Good story for a long car trip.

Awesome

Not the best but pretty good. Not as long as other DeMille books. The premise of the book is very timely. It's makes one think about other world actors that aren't from the Middle East

Good but not great

Our smart alek former NYPD detective turned Fed watcher of diplomats. I must say this was disappointing. A short novel which could have been shorter. One thinks Mr DeMille is tired of this character. And this appears to be the last Corey story.

Scott Brick was as good as usual but he seems tired of the character as well.

Another Corey story.

What did you love best about Radiant Angel?

Nelson is an amazing author and this book stands up to all the rest.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Excellent cast of characters all around.

Have you listened to any of Scott Brick’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Scott is my all-time favorite performer. I could listen to him read the newspaper and be captivated.

DeMille is awesome
