Is it even possible for us to stay married till death do us part?
And for those that do, how do they stay happy? Are they just lucky? Discover tools that will help answer and navigate the questions real-life couples ask, like:
Why do we argue about the same things over and over?
Does she even hear what I'm saying?
Why is he playing video games instead of hanging out with me?
Have we just grown apart?
Is being in a relationship supposed to be this hard?
Traci Morrow, John C. Maxwell's relationship expert, debunks the happily-ever-after myth and shows how great marriages are built one choice at a time. Humorous, uplifting, and completely personal, Real-Life Marriage will lead you through the mess to create the passionate, adventurous, and purposeful marriage-for-life you choose.

Traci gives practical and time-honored wisdom in how to navigate from the very beginning, every step of the way for your unique and successful love story. I loved what she said about no two people being a fit, that it’s a matter of choosing every day on both parts to show up with the best of ourselves. To come as we are, with heart and honesty. This is a book I will listen to over and again to soak in the riches of staying in my own lane, and also, speaking to the best parts of my future spouse in a way that is honoring and For the common goal of connection and lifelong marriage.
Thank you, Traci Morrow for putting your life experience study and heart into these pages. The ripple effect is going to be massive! You are doing beautiful work on this planet and I am thankful to be a recipient if your hard won wisdom and fun revelations. Thank you for giving me hope around a future marriage, with tangible steps that I can implement, as well as I what I can look for in the dating pool-another person who’s committed to the growth and success of our union! Two very different people committed to the common goal! This is a must for every person, whether you’re paired currently or not. I highly recommend this book and will be giving a copy to every soon to be married couple I meet!

There are some truly valuable insights in here, but my favorite among them is the idea of small issues growing into a "rock pile" that must be dealt with before it becomes too big. In dealing with such issues, the author touts the importance of communication, but instead of relying on that cliche alone (or even on that word), she explains it through amusing and relatable stories. For example, a Nintendo system she and her husband received as a wedding gift later became a divider between them. Morrow describes not only her emotional outburst and her husband's dead-eyed stare (a moment that most women and men will surely relate to), but also the caring and vulnerable conversation that followed, when both spouses explained where they were coming from and how they could be better in the future.
She shares stories from her and her husband's childhoods that have led to each of their traumas and hang-ups, and by being so vulnerable (and respectful of her partner), she doesn't just parrot those old sayings of "marriage takes work" or "nobody's perfect" -- she actually shows the path and details the concrete steps that those two imperfect people took to build an incredible marriage.
The book doesn't proselytize or preach, and the author never pretends to be an expert or an authority on marriage; she's simply someone who's been part of a successful one for a few decades, and she wants to share the things she's learned. To me, that's the best kind of advice. And I'm really glad the author narrated the book herself, because her voice is as genuine and warm as her words are. Through such vulnerability, authenticity, and love, it's immediately clear that this book is not a one-way-to-happiness guidebook or another self-help guru's insufferable vanity project; It's a gift from someone who has walked the walk and whose goal is simply to share.
No fluff; Just real life
