Over 1 million Discworld audiobooks sold – discover the extraordinary universe of Terry Pratchett’s Discworld like never before

The audiobook of Reaper Man is narrated by the BAFTA award-winning actor Sian Clifford (Fleabag; Vanity Fair; Quiz). BAFTA and Golden Globe award-winning actor Bill Nighy (Love Actually; Pirates of the Caribbean; Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) reads the footnotes, and Peter Serafinowicz (Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace; Shaun of the Dead) stars as the voice of Death. Featuring a new theme tune composed by James Hannigan.

'Inside every living person is a dead person waiting to get out.'

Death has been fired by the Auditors of Reality for the heinous crime of developing...a personality. Sent to live like everyone else, Death takes a new name and begins working as a farmhand. He's got the scythe already, after all.

And for humanity, Death is just...gone. Which leads to the kind of chaos you always get when an important public service is withdrawn. If Death doesn't come for you, then what are you supposed to do in the meantime?

You can't have the undead wandering about like lost souls-there's no telling what might happen. Particularly when they discover that life really is only for the living...

The Discworld novels can be listened to in any order, but Reaper Man is the second book in the Death series.

The first book in the Discworld series-The Colour of Magic-was published in 1983. Some elements of the Discworld universe may reflect this.

As always Terry pratchett is funny, whimsical, thoughtful, and philosophical all at once. I just thought this was one of Is best endings. I’m so grateful that audible added a rich audio production

Stunning and so heartwarming

How one bounces back from getting sacked from your job tells you a lot about yourself. For Death, he was shocked, maybe a bit sad. He has never done anything wrong, but still, he got fired. But then, he realized, he got the time of his life.

This is a beautiful story of growth and acceptance. Death becomes a new person, and so does Windle Poons, literally. Death becomes Bill Door, a sharecropper of sorts, and Windle Poons accidentally becomes a zombie. They both meet interesting and wonderful new people, and they help out those they can. They lost something, but they both gained new friendships. Maybe, it’s one of the best examples of how he can bounce back from a loss. The grieving time is needed, but once we have, oh, the wonderful things we can experience.

Trying to make it through the death series to listen to hog father for Christmas and found this second installment to be even more fun than the first. The narration is artful and adds another level of entertainment to Pratchett’s genius.

A great story made even more enjoyable by the narration

A stunning story about Death, society, the nature of life, and how we treat the dead. Maybe the best Pratchett novel, with an unexpected side romance about werewolves.

Stunning

Another amazing Discworld book! My favorite installment so far. The portrayal of Death is thought provoking and charming.

I love this book in book form and was hoping to get the original audiobook but this was the only one on audible. The narration is fine except for then she is voicing characters. The wizards are voiced like munchkins, her flow feels awkward around some of the voicing. I just can't get into bad narration after hearing the original years ago. I recommend reading the actual book.

After a second listen, I am still disappointed in the narration

As the Nigel Planer. Had to give it a try, and it was a nice change of pace, but… planer just had the perfect voice for it.

Almost as good

out of all 12 books so far Windle Poons is my absolute favorite character. this book made me feel so many emotions and I had a good think after I listened to it... Death is really amazing and an absolutely wonderful character. he's more human than you'd think and he's very just and fair, and the fact that he let the Death of Rats & the Death of Fleas live just goes to show that even Death needs someone to relate to.

Windle Poons is my favorite.

When DEATH is forced into early retirement, he is finally able to understand what it is like to be mortal. In my opinion this is certainly the saddest Discworld novel, but still one of my favorites.

Death takes a holiday

I don’t want to spoil anything, but just characters that are actually good and do good things having adventures and experiencing life and death. Funny and heartwarming. All the stars for Terry.

Wonderful ending to a great story.
