Acerca de esta escucha

"Marine Sgt. John Peck is a survivor, but he is also a thriver. His story still makes me smile. I am so grateful that he entered our lives.” --Jennifer Griffin, Fox News

Marine Sgt. John Peck survived an IED during the War on Terror that left him with a traumatic brain injury, amnesia, and cost him his marriage. He survived another three years later, one that left him with three and a half limbs missing. He’s one of only two living people to survive the flesh-eating fungus he contracted in recovery at Walter Reed, one that left him as a quadruple amputee. And that’s only the beginning of his story.

What followed was a recovery nothing short of miraculous. With resilience and the help of advocates like actor and philanthropist Gary Sinise, Fox’s Jennifer Griffin, and Bill O’Reilly, John would use a specialized “Action Trackchair” wheelchair and a newly-built SmartHome to get a third lease on life. In 2016, Peck underwent a groundbreaking bilateral arm transplant, receiving two new arms. To date, the surgery has been successful.

Today, Peck is a motivational speaker, a philanthropist for veteran and wounded warrior causes, and is pursuing his lifelong dream of becoming a chef with the help of chef Robert Irvine. From the lessons learned in a difficult childhood and as a homeless teenager, to dealing with depression and PTSD in recovery, to learning how to chop with another man’s arms, Rebuilding Sergeant Peck is Peck’s account of an honest, visceral, and inspirational story that is truly unique.

Great story, Hooah! I think it would have sounded better with a professional reader, but I understand the need to tell the story. Semper-Fi Marine.

Sgt Peck masterfully told his story with grit and grace. The truest of heroes. Such an incredible example of getting up after being knocked down over and over
As a military officer, I salute you!🫡

I thought this was a very honest telling of a life that had far more struggles in thirty something years than most people have had in a lifetime. Rebuilding Sergeant Peck gives hope as it shows, despite the odds, what a man can do and become despite seemingly impossible odds. I love that John Peck narrated his own story it felt authentic. Told simply and without drama the reader gets to see from what depths and to what great heights the human spirit can soar.

I greatly enjoyed the story but didn’t care for the narration. Also, the story could have been better without the profanity. Overall, it was good.

Great story but should have been read professionally

John Peck shared about his many struggles in life, including abandonment from his biological father, being abused by his step father, got memory problem from his traumatic Brain injury from a mission as a marine, got his arms and legs blown off by an IED in the battle field. it was challenging beyond my imagination, but he was able to overcome all of that and eventually start a new life with his new arms and new wife.

an amazing inspiring story

A special insight into this mans life and struggles. The unimaginable happens to him and with support, he has overcome so much to present day. The battle is ongoing, but he has a good handle on what needs to be done to get through it. It gives readers an appreciation for what we take for granted every day; things like walking, driving, brushing teeth, combing hair etc. This is the picture John gives you to be without limbs. I’m very happy he has his new life and that he continues to see medical advances that will perhaps give him the chance to go for a walk one day.

Eye opening
