Acerca de esta escucha
How to rewire your brain to improve virtually every aspect of your life - based on the latest research in neuroscience and psychology on neuroplasticity and evidence-based practices.
Not long ago, it was thought that the brain you were born with was the brain you would die with, and that the brain cells you had at birth were the most you would ever possess. Your brain was thought to be hardwired to function in predetermined ways. It turns out that's not true. Your brain is not hardwired; it's "softwired" by experience. This book shows you how you can rewire parts of the brain to feel more positive about your life, remain calm during stressful times, and improve your social relationships.
Written by a leader in the field of Brain-Based Therapy, it teaches you how to activate the parts of your brain that have been underactivated and calm down those areas that have been hyperactivated, so that you feel positive about your life and remain calm during stressful times. You will also learn to improve your memory, boost your mood, have better relationships, and get a good night's sleep.
Rewire Your Brain reveals how cutting-edge developments in neuroscience and evidence-based practices can be used to improve your everyday life. Explaining exciting new developments in neuroscience and their applications to daily living, this audiobook will guide you through the process of changing your brain so you can change your life and be free of self-imposed limitations.
Dr. Arden is a leader in integrating the new developments in neuroscience with psychotherapy and director of training in mental health for Kaiser Permanente for the Northern California Region. Other titles by Dr. Arden include Brain-Based Therapy - Adult, Brain-Based Therapy - Child, Improving Your Memory for Dummies and Heal Your Anxiety Workbook.

Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) is currently defined as a "syndrome", a collection of symptoms for which the root cause has not yet been identified. This book aims to rectify this by arguing the case for POTS being considered a form of neurological injury to the limbic system following an antecedent trauma, such as a viral illness, pregnancy, surgery, or psychological trauma (or a combination).

Trauma is a fact of life. Veterans and their families deal with the painful aftermath of combat; one in five Americans has been molested; one in four grew up with alcoholics; one in three couples have engaged in physical violence. Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, one of the world’s foremost experts on trauma, has spent more than three decades working with survivors. In The Body Keeps the Score, he uses recent scientific advances to show how trauma literally reshapes both body and brain, compromising sufferers’ capacities for pleasure, engagement, self-control, and trust.

Coexisting but conflicting needs create self-sabotaging behaviors. This is why we resist efforts to change, often until they feel completely futile. But by extracting crucial insight from our most damaging habits, building emotional intelligence by better understanding our brains and bodies, releasing past experiences at a cellular level, and learning to act as our highest potential future selves, we can step out of our own way and into our potential.

Would you listen to Rewire Your Brain again? Why?
Oh yes. There is a ton of information and it's hard to get it all in one listen. He tells you exactly what to do to rewire your brain for depression, panic attacks, memory problems and much more. He teaches you how your brain works and WHY. He tells you what you are doing wrong and how to correct your "disorder" or "disability" all without medicine. I'm so excited about this book I'm getting copies for others. It's a must read for people who really want to change. You do have to DO the work but it's easy. I've already started doing some and it's working. I see where I've created my own situations and what I can do to correct them and live a much happier healthier lifestyle. I've had panic attacks so bad I had a service dog for them and depression so bad I've visited the hospital on several occasions. I don't see that being the case anymore in my life. I've worked hard over the years to get past all these things and this book as finally put all the pieces of the puzzle together for me. I've listened to this audible version and will be getting the hard copy to further concrete the principles into my life. I hope you to can Rewire Your Brain ...ENJOY~!~
What did you like best about this story?
The way he explained things is so understandable. He covers problems I'm having such as depression, panic attacks, and memory. I can problem solves my own problems and don't have to be on medicine. Something they don't tell you in a mental health facility is that you CAN get over a mental illness but most people don't want to do the work involved in order to get WELL. It's a process that takes a long time but Mr Arden makes it so much easier.Which scene was your favorite?
About depression and panic attacks because I can relate so well to these conditions. What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?
