Review: I LOVED THIS AUDIOBOOK! This duo was EVERYTHING I wanted for Kayla and Adriel. From the emotion they both emulated to the way they developed the intensity of feelings between them. CJ Bloom and JF Harding truly brought this couple to life and I could not get enough. I enjoyed how they could feed off the other while listening and it truly felt like I was being sucked into the story via their narration.

This is the first book where neither narrator was better than the other. I felt like both were terrific for the roles they had and that they were just savage enough while reading to add the edge the book needed. Lilian truly did this final Messina Crime Family book justice with selecting these two!

Rating: 100+, Kayla and Adriel are easily the couple full of redemption and vengeance and this audiobook was HAWT!

Review: This book is EVERYTHING I love in mafia romance and Lilian Harris outdid herself with this final Messina Crime Family novel. Kayla and Adriel’s romance is full of lust, hatred, revenge, vengeance and forgiveness with a hard-won HEA at the end! After being introduced to Kayla and seeing glimpses of her story in previous books, I was anxious for her book and the way Lilian created her character evolution was intense and allowed us to grasp all the facets of her personality as the book went on. I found that Adriel was the perfect missing half of her soul and balanced Kayla’s dark and light sides perfectly!

This book is DARK. I would say it is the darkest book in this series and the two MCs are also the most broken and complex. The back stories Adriel and Kayla both have are not for the faint of heart at any point in the book and the way Lilian was able to handle the topics that arose from their pasts kept the feelings raw and the angst real as their secrets came out. Kayla’s POV was perhaps my favorite part of this book since her emotional range was so profound and I found myself being sucked into her mind and wanting her to take her fate in her own hands to get the justice she deserved. The one area I was not a huge fan of in Kayla’s story was her isolation from her friends. I found myself wanting to see more of Elsie and Jade as the book went on since they were so supportive of her.

Adriel was the man, the myth and the legend in this book. His POV was deliciously dark and deceiving as the book went on and I LOVED every depraved word. His story tore me to shreds and I loved how Lilian was able to create his tortured anti-hero mentality but also twist him into Kayla’s morally gray savior! The way all of his secrets were unraveled kept me on the edge of my seat and I have to say I DID NOT see all his schemes and deceptions until he revealed them at the end. I found the animosity Adriel had over his past and with his family to be what sucked me in the most and I enjoyed seeing the women push for the men to move past old grudges. I also ADORED the bond he had with Sophia and found myself looking forward to all their interactions since she brought out his soft side!

This book was the perfect wrap up to this series and the interconnected worlds of two crime families. Lilian was able to tie up all the loose ends and give us HEAs across the board and I am happy with the three women getting their voices heard (Jade, Elsie and Kayla). I found that the darkness in this book balanced out the two MCs and enjoyed how this one was more of a primal kink and masked man romance! Adriel and Kayla are truly two broken souls who deserve their HEA!

Everyone is flawed - some more than others. Even the victims ultimately forfeit their sympathy cards in this series.

BUT - if you’re okay not having a knight in shining armor to root for, you’ll enjoy this. The voice acting is good and writing is clever.

Brutal and Dark - No Heroes Here

To say I have been waiting as patiently as I can for this story is the biggest understatement known to man because throughout this incredible series this character has been hiding, waiting, anticipating their move for the spotlight and I have, from day one, been on the edge waiting for him too. The author knows how to create a world where we as readers devour not only the insanely hot mafia men and women, but she puts us in their world and makes it easy to fall for them but also want to be a part of their world. The suspense that keeps us glued in wondering how the h3ll things will go and what will happen next is perfection and let me say these stories will consume your heart and soul to where you live and breath their world and you will be perfectly fine with that. I recently listened to the audio and let me say this is absolute PERFECTION. The narrators are on point and so amazing when it comes to bringing the characters to life that I devoured it and LOVED every second of it.

I loved this book and the whole series! Big fan of the level of spicy scenes and the twists and turns this book has! Highly recommend!

I almost didn’t read this one because of some reviews saying it’s too dark, no heroes and no hea, I’m not sure what book they were reading because it’s no darker than the others in the series and there are several heroic scenes throughout. I freaking loved it!!

I love this whole series! J. F. Harding is one of my favorite male narrators so that was another selling point. Female narrator was great too. I hope we get a story for Sophia and Jameson… I recommend especially if you’ve already enjoyed any of the series because this is about Adriel, Raph’s brother that was given away at birth.

This was a thrill ride and it was hard to watch at times but I had to keep pushing through and find out the HEA. Lilian Harris really had me hooked.

I look forward to the next spin off series!

I recently reread via audio and the performances by CJ Bloom and JH Harding was very arresting. It made the story come alive in a new way.

I really liked good audio but it wasn’t as good as the previous books but this is my favorite book of the entire series. I’m definitely an A Girl. I loved the trauma bonding and talking about it. It makes mine and me be seen. Their relationship unconventional but they are unconventional people and that’s one thing the audio got right is you felt their hurt and reluctance, especially with A. I’m sad this is the last book of the series but now it’s time for the next chapter.
