Acerca de esta escucha

Number one New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Sandra Brown delivers her trademark nonstop suspense and supercharged sexual tension in this thriller about tainted heroism, cold fury, and vengeance without mercy.

Kerra Bailey is a television journalist on the rise, and she's hot on the trail of a story guaranteed to skyrocket her career to even greater heights: an interview with the legendary Major Trapper. Twenty-five years ago, the major emerged a hero from the bombing of the Pegasus Hotel in downtown Dallas when he was photographed leading a handful of survivors out of the collapsing building. The iconic picture transformed him into a beloved national icon, in constant demand for speeches and interviews - until he suddenly dropped out of the public eye, shunning all members of the media. However, Kerra is willing to use any means necessary to get to the major - even if she has to wrangle an introduction from his estranged son, former ATF agent John Trapper.

Still seething over his break with both the ATF and his father, John Trapper wants no association with the hotel bombing or his hero father and spurns the meddling reporters determined to drag them back into the limelight. Yet Kerra's sheer audacity and tantalizing hints that there's more to the story rouse Trapper's interest despite himself. And when her interview of a lifetime goes catastrophically awry - with unknown assailants targeting not only the major but also Kerra - Trapper realizes he needs her under wraps if he's going to track down the gunmen before they strike again...as well as discover, finally, who was responsible for the Pegasus bombing.

Kerra is wary of a man so charming one moment and dangerous the next, and she knows Trapper is withholding evidence collected during his ATF investigation into the bombing. But having no one else to trust and enemies lurking closer than they know, Kerra and Trapper join forces and risk their very lives to expose a sinuous network of lies and conspiracy running deep through Texas - and uncover who would want a national hero dead.

I'm a first time listener to this author. It was a great book with many surprising twists and turns. Well written. Like some of the other reviews...the sex scenes were bad and out of place. Felt very disconnected. I couldn't wait for them to be over to get back to the meat of the book. And I love a good love/sex scene. Would still recommend it and read another book from her.

Great book!

"Seeing Red" is Sandra Brown at her best!

Believable and likable characters; complicated relationship dynamics; a mystery to unravel; sneaky, sinister bad guys; unexpected plot twists and a good dose of romance (Brown does this well: classy, not sleazy).

I thought Victor Slezak did an excellent job narrating the story and breathing life into the characters.

Not really one to read romance, but being as it was also a thriller, I decided to give it a shot. I can say I wasn't disappointed. my only real concern is the narrator's lack of variety in voices, but it's not bad enough to warrant giving up. The story is filled with many twists that kind of got confusing at times, but isn't predictable.

Entertaining

As with pretty much all Sandra Brown books I've read, I loved this book. It was interesting and engaging with plenty of plot twists. Victor Slezak did an excellent job narrating the book.

Sandra Brown had always been one of my all-time favourite authors, so I had high expectations for Seeing Red. She did not disappoint. Ms. Brown took me on a ride filled with suspense, mystery and has jaw dropping twists, served with a side of romance. This is a story that will keep you up through the wee hours of the night as you need to know how it will all end.

John Trapper and Kerra Bailey are the focus of this fantastic story. Kerra, top-notch journalist is on the verge of boosting her career if she lands an interview with town hero Major Franklin Trapper. Numerous attempts to secure the interview proved futile. so armed with the reluctant assistance of the major’s son along with an important piece of information from an incident which occurred twenty-five years ago Kerra set out to secure the interview. However, her attempts to gain the interview set into motion events that place her life and that of the major in jeopardy.

John Trapper has been living in the shadow of his father’s heroism for the past twenty-five years. He believes there is more to the incident than they led people to believe. His determination to prove his theory led to his personal and professional life spiralling out of control. This did not stop him from continuing his investigation if anything it spurred him to further to try to prove to all he was not delusional.

I loved both Kerra and John. Initially, I had a difficult time warming up to John, but as I peeled away his layers and delved deeper into what made him tick, I found myself drawn to him. Yeah, he was rough around the edges but he cared and determined to protect those he loved.

I admired Kerra’s professionalism and ethics. She never allowed her desire for a story to take precedence over what she considered being the morally correct thing to do.

Kerra and John together was a forced to be reckoned with both professionally and intimately. I thought they worked well together in their pursuit of the truth.

When I stated earlier that Ms. Brown took me on a suspenseful side, it was no exaggeration. From the start to the end. Figuring out what was going on was no easy task. Then there were the jaw dropping twists that the author revealed near to the end. I never saw that last one coming. That was the doozy of them all. That reveal was devastating for quite a few persons.

Narration
I could not distinguish between the voices of the male and female characters. I switched between reading and listening as the narrator's voice lapsed into boring monotone on several occasions.

Conclusion/Recommendation
Fans of Sandra Brown will love Seeing Red. If you love romantic suspense, but read none of Ms. Brown’s work this would be a good place to start.

Suspenseful but narration could be better.

Thought this was one of the better Sandra Brown books. A winning formula with some twists and turns. The ending was a little bit of a let down, to easily wrapped up but enjoyed listening to the reading.
