Acerca de esta escucha

One boy

Jack McKinley is an ordinary kid with an extraordinary problem: In a few months, he's going to die.

One Mission

Jack needs to find seven magic loculi that, when combined, have the power to cure him.

One Problem

The loculi are the relics of a lost civilization and haven't been seen in thousands of years.

Seven Wonders

Because they're hidden in the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

The thrills begin in The Colossus Rises, the first installment in the epic seven-book adventure series Seven Wonders, from master storyteller and best-selling 39 Clues series author Peter Lerangis. The highly anticipated series has received early praise from Rick Riordan, author of the Percy Jackson series, who says, "A high-octane mix of modern adventure and ancient secrets, The Colossus Rises is Lerangis's most gripping work yet. Young readers will love this story. I can't wait to see what's next in the Seven Wonders series!"

My son and I both loved this book. It was performed well and the story was wonderful. Great work....worth the money!

Awesome!!!

My daughter is in 5th grade and this book is her book club's selection. She listened to this and immediately took out book two. She liked fable haven and seven kingdoms. This one isn't quite as enjoyable as those for her but she gives this 4 stars.

Slow beginning, but worth it.

i didnt expect the book to be what it is. this is a good book with cool characters, but its packed with too much story. theres like 3 books in one and it just gets kinda boring to hear sometimes. the performance was okay, his voice got annoying sometimes. i thought this would be more fun but it was just eh, but i still recommend it its an entertaining short listen.

interesting

Where does Seven Wonders, Book 1: The Colossus Rises rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Top 5

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jack was smart and funny and was a true leader of the group.

What about Johnathan McClain’s performance did you like?

Great job - loved they way he changed his voice for each character.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

We laughed and the book left us hanging. Couldn't wait to start the second book.

Any additional comments?

My children loved this book. Everyday on the way to and from school they asked to listen to the book. It has been the quietest car ride we have had in months. Thank you Peter Lerangis for giving this mom something to look forward to each day.

The story is okay... I would probably read the next book in the series. I didn't love the performance, though I guess toward the end I just kind of settled for it. Very Riordan-esque, though there were moments when I thought it was a bit too over the top - silly almost.

Decent Storyline- Most Kids Will Like It

Peter Lerangis's first book in the series has me looking forward to the following books. Jack and his three friends are likable characters. The plot was interesting with its plot twists and the interaction between the protagonists. The narrator did a fine job with this book. This should be liked by readers who enjoy the 39 clues books.

A strong start for the series

I'm judging this for itself, and not for it's part in the series.

The main characters are believable and relatable. I can certainly understand Jack's lack of self confidence as the story progresses. I was a little disappointed that one of the four's return was so predicable, but I can't blame them for wanting to show a bit of physical proof of the power they were talking about. The either drip fed twists and shocking revelations expertly from beginning to end. I am looking forward to getting my hands on the next book soon.

A solid book for sure

Audible reviews are pretty much crap, so see my Amazon review. I can't submit my full review here for some reason. Basically, this book has great potential and is a fun read, with mostly good narration, but suffers from convenient but unlikely plot devices, flat characters, and not enough realistic intelligence and rationality.

It's still worth checking out though, and convinced me to read the rest of the series.

Good book for Riordan fans

This book was the best I've ever listened to. It should be an award winner for best story. The story was action packed with excitement and a lot of family.

Should win an award

narrator was VERY distracting. the professor and allie's voice was sooooo.....
also, even though marco and jack are 13 year olds, that pitch was too highly exaggerated for male teenagers.

the voices
