There are many issues with this book - with the actual story as well the audio. The recording is poorly edited. There are many points in the book where lines are repeated in statement, tone, and inflection. It’s not a character repeating something they said/thought but an actual bad cut. Now, it is possible that the book is poorly edited and the voice artist is just repeating the book, line for line, but I would hope these would have been caught in production.

The story is a whole ball or bad work. It has a great premise, but falls flat. The characters are one dimensional and we don’t get enough to really care about any of them. From the start of the book we are expected to believe that two young woman have this amazing and outstanding relationship with their grandmother whom they are trying to get to. We believe that these young women have been to the grandmothers house many times as they grew up - they were able to travel from Virginia to Ohio without a map or navigation materials just on memores alone. Once they get to the grandmothers they three of them constantly talk about how it’s good they finally met and the girls can finally see the property. Like, what? Then there’s the story arc of the 16 year old sister being the most beautiful woman who has ever graced the earth and every man is only interested in assaulting her. This seemed to be the only plot point for the younger sister; as a mechanism for the male characters to unleash sexual violence. All the characters seem to have the memories of goldfish; the two main women kill multiple people, yet they move on to the next thing as if they are just getting back from a normal shopping trip. It’s just so long and painful.
