Garenth had been awakened to retrieve an ancient artifact that was crucial to his well-being. He had few memories of what his life had been like when he had been a man. What memories that were left were filled with blood and excruciating pain.

That part of him was over now. The talisman had been taken from its sacred burial place, and it had to be returned as quickly as possible. It was up to him to follow through with his mission so he could return to another thousand years of sleep.

Brielle Van de Camp knew an extraordinary find when she saw it. The small clay figure was the key to a potentially earth-shattering revelation about a previously unknown time in man's ancestry. She would bet her life on it.

Unfortunately, others had gotten wind of the talisman, and they were equally determined to claim its promise for themselves. If Brielle wasn't willing to part with the figurine, they had no compunction about prying it from her dead fingers.

They never counted on having to face the guardian of the statuette, who turned out to be more than a creature of mythology.

I got this story via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review. This story grabbed me at the first word. The narrator was excellent and the beginning did not prepare me for the ending. All of the twists and turns that were involved in this story just made it even more interesting. What do you do when the one person that you are scared to trust is the only one who can help you? Why you do what happened in this story. Worth a credit in my opinion.

Garenth was turned to stone (a frightening-looking gargoyle) thousands of years ago. He was awakened when Brielle’s uncle’s team unearthed him and took the talisman that was in his hand. When he wakes, he is able to hone in on the talisman. He interrupts a thief at the museum and that is where he meets Brielle. He ends up whisking her away and that is when their time together starts. The author did a good job of creating a way they could make love and their romance was very nice. This was a pretty good story and I really enjoyed the ending.

Matyas Job Gombos did a good job with the narration. I was given a free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This book is so unique! I don’t think I have ever read anything quite like it! The author did an excellent job with the characters and the very unique storyline.

Narration was well done and brought the story to life.

I loved everything about this story. This is a new author and I’m already looking forward to reading more of her books.

The conclusion was even better than I expected it! Loved it!

I absolutely loved it! The narration was superb and gave the story that extra flair! The author did an excellent job with the character builds and plot. This was my first book by this author but definitely not my last! I look forward to reading more books by this author! Garenth is an ancient Egyptian general who was turned into a gargoyle to save his life and exact revenge upon the evil man who hated him and caused his torture and death sentence. Brielle is the woman whose uncle discovered Garenth's tomb and unknowingly set him free to fulfill his destiny. Together they overcome many dangerous obstacles to find their HEA together...forever.

What happens when an Egyptian Gargoyle comes alive to protect an artifact and falls in love? Well you'll have to read the book to find out, muhahahahaha
It took me a little bit to get into the story but once I did, I enjoyed the ride. Definitely a different take on the Gargoyle trope and yes, believe it or not it is a trope in the PNR world.
The narrator did a fantastic job changing up the voices to separate the characters for the listeners.
