Acerca de esta escucha

Everyone's favorite lethal SecUnit is back in the next installment in Martha Wells's New York Times bestselling Murderbot Diaries series.

Am I making it worse? I think I'm making it worse.

Following the events in Network Effect, the Barish-Estranza corporation has sent rescue ships to a newly-colonized planet in peril, as well as additional SecUnits. But if there’s an ethical corporation out there, Murderbot has yet to find it, and if Barish-Estranza can’t have the planet, they’re sure as hell not leaving without something. If that something just happens to be an entire colony of humans, well, a free workforce is a decent runner-up prize.

But there’s something wrong with Murderbot; it isn’t running within normal operational parameters. ART’s crew and the humans from Preservation are doing everything they can to protect the colonists, but with Barish-Estranza’s SecUnit-heavy persuasion teams, they’re going to have to hope Murderbot figures out what’s wrong with itself, and fast!

Yeah, this plan is... not going to work.

Performed by David Cui Cui, Debi Tinsley, Elena Anderson, Bradley Foster Smith, Christopher Walker, Eric Messner, Eva Wilhelm, Karen Novack, Ken Jackson, Khaya Fraites, Laura C. Harris, Lydia Kraniotis, Nanette Savard, Richard Rohan, Scott McCormick, Stewart Crank, Thomas Penny, Triya Leong, Yasmin Tuazon and Zeke Alton.

Too short

Unique perspective, interesting read. I’d love to find others like it. Murderbot is a clever story.

Unique and interesting

The thought processes of the main character, the interactions, and the dramatized adaptation all make for a fun and thoughtful story.

more, please

always a fun series, each book is just as good as the last and builds on the long form story so well

another excellent adventure

I know these books are all similar but I still enjoy them and the title character. But having the other voices which were not that good, and music which detracted, I’ll stick with plain narration, thank you.

Better if just narrated

Worst of the series redo without dramatization. Sound in background sucked leave it out. Not impressed ed at all. Bring back original narrator.

Narration sucked

who ever put the dramatization together did such a bad job. they owe the author compensation for lost sales. original narrator was superb. made a great story superb. the dramatization was so bad it made me rage quit the book half way through. pretentious, overacted garbage. seriously, stop doing this. just stick with the original narrator. have you guys never heard the phrase "if it ain't broke, dont break it and pretend to fix it"

someone needs to get fired over that "dramatisation"

after enjoying nearly every single book in the series rating it from 4 to 5 stars, I couldn't for the life of me get into this one. not a single joke was funny. The story was completely uninteresting. I'm sorry to say felt robotic. it's as if you fed an AI the entirety of the series thus far and asked it to write the next book. I think I'm done with the series after this. there's no coming back from a stinker like this.

definitely the weakest in the series

This is the worst performance. It is like there is speed talking. Like it is on 2X speed. And the enunciation is horrible and I can't buy any of it. I am so annoyed, I can't pay attention to the story. Only that the narrator trips over his tongue. I am going to remove this from my library and get the version narrated by Kevin Free. This was a horrible experience (dramatized expression here), and I hope this doesn't ruin other dramatized books for me.

I can't. I just can't

Listening to this, I kept tuning out, as if I was in an elevator listening to an instrumental version of
The Girl From Ipanema. True, the Murderbot formula is expected. By now, his cussing, exasperation
with humans and love of soap operas are familiar tunes. But, here even the plot is familiar: new planet, bad corporation, run-ins with other SecUnits and Team Murderbot saves the day.

It’s not a terrible formula, I just wanted more, like growth or fresh backstories for Dr. Mensa or Rati.
Or, maybe attention to a more unique alien setting instead of a drab, dusty planet. There were mildly fun bits with ART and the newest freethinking A.I, SecUnit 3. And I suppose watching Murderbot get neurotic over a problem with his memory was fun too. The formula outweighs the novel parts, however, and unfortunately the graphic audio, with its sound effects and off- voicing, only made things worse.

Shame on me thinking graphic audio would be better
