I pretended to be the girlfriend of one of the richest men in New York City.

It was only meant to be the one time. I mean it was the week before Christmas, I was shopping with my best friend and we were hungry and wanted to dine at the new swanky restaurant on the upper west side.

For some reason the hostess misheard me when I mentioned Max Parker’s name. I’d been complaining that he was the reason why I’d lost my job. Who was I to correct her when it meant that “my relationship” had caused a table to suddenly open up?

And then the next week I accidentally let it slip that Max Parker was my boyfriend to get into an exclusive club. And then there was the time when I saw that Chanel handbag and Prada shoes. I mean, it didn’t really hurt anyone, did it? It was just a little white lie.

How was I to know that my fake boyfriend would find out that I’d been using his name? Now he’s blackmailing me into playing his fake fiancé in an arrangement that could only be classed as risqué. Turns out if I want to keep my bookstore open, I’m going to have to play along with his game. Only he’s going to have to go along with the rules in my dating handbook and while he smirks at that idea he doesn’t know that I’ve got a plan of my own.

Max And Charlotte’s Story Is A Zany Over-The-Top Quick Read That Will Have You Laughing Out Loud!


This is the first book in the Alpha Boyfriends series about three best friends who meet during freshman year at Columbia University in New York. Charlotte, Emily, and Anabel, all twenty-five now, are young and single in New York City. Book one is Charlotte and Max’s story. Emily’s story follows in book two. In it she has a one night stand with Liam Montgomery, but things get awkward afterward. In book three, Anabel’s secret lost love is finally revealed when Luca reappears in her life.

Charlotte Johnson, twenty-five, has just lost her job thanks to Max Parker, the CEO of Parker Corporation. Her company had been bought out by his. The employees had been promised jobs once the deal was complete, but that was a lie. Charlotte now has thirty days to get a paycheck or she will have to pack up and move back to her parents’ home in Florida. She loves her life in New York and doesn’t want to leave her best friends Emily and Anabel. And although she loves her parents, she hasn’t been back in years. Brandon had left her and she still cannot face the memories back home. Bottom line: she hates Max Parker for putting her in this position.

When Anabel takes her and Emily out to lunch at a new hotspot, Charlotte takes the opportunity to rip into him again while they wait in line. But in a mix-up she is taken for Max Parker’s girlfriend and ushered to a table. Soon the news spreads, and before she knows it a seemingly harmless lie turns into an angry email from Max Parker himself.

Max Parker, thirty, made his fortune buying and restructuring companies. He is a Harvard Business School grad, but he credits his time in the military for helping him work through some issues and making him who is today. When he learns that Charlotte Johnson has been claiming to be his girlfriend, he can’t help but be curious. And when he meets her, he can’t help but kiss her. And propose that she be his fake fiancée.

Max and Charlotte’s story is a zany over-the-top quick read that will have you laughing and out loud. The couple has incredible chemistry and fantastic banter. Charlotte is sweet yet bold, while Max has layers hidden beneath his tough façade. It all pulls together in the end with a few tears and a happy ending. It closes with hints of Emily’s upcoming story.

Max and Charlotte’s steamy story is a light and playful quick read. The story is well-written. The plot is fairly simple. The characters are nicely developed given the length. The story is written in first person from Charlotte’s POV. I rate this book 4.5 stars.


As for the Audio: it is performed very well and is consistent with the book.

Loved it. This is a fun and flirty book with just the right amount of drama too.
What happens when you keep telling people that a hot billionaire is your boyfriend, you get busted and then the real fun begins.
Loved the emails.
Standalone with no cliffhangers.

This story is amazing!!! You will fall in Love with Charlotte and Max. This is a sexy Love story!!! But also has a few twists that will keep you on your toes! I absolutely love this story!!! The narrator L. West was freaking amazing!!! She flows the story so very well!
You will fall in love with this story too!

This was such a fun, fast paced storyline. So many unexpected surprises and emotional story, with lots of laugh out loud moments!
Max is a billionaire and Charlotte innocently mentioned that he was her fiancée! But he really isn’t! So when he finds out it’s a priceless and funny moment!
This is such a must listen, it has all the good feels of an enjoyable listen from an amazing author! Also, I super loved the narrator Laurie West!!

I liked the storyline a ton, but I wish the steamy bits weren’t so cringy. The transitions weren’t smooth at all. The narrator did a decent enough job, especially with different voices for each character.

It was a very cute story. You laugh and you cry. I’ve listened to several JS Coopers books and I have enjoyed them. Keep up the good work.

I love JS Cooper. The story line was good. I did call the twist pretty early. The long email addresses and RE: got to be very annoying and by the time it was read I forgot the line before. For the most part, I liked the narrator until she did the man's voice. It sounded like an old man. Not what you want when trying to imagine a super sexy man.

WOW what an amazing story. Great Characters and story line. I started this as soon as I received it and did not stop listening until it was over. The narrator was fantastic and kept you interested. Charlotte and Max's banter in their emails had me laughing, their chemistry was hot, Romantic. They are both keeping Secrets, It will have you laughing and you might need some kleenix as there were a few tears., but it will have you from beginning to end. It will not disappoint. Thank you J.S. Cooper for an amazing book.

Oh, no, Charlotte! What are you thinking? Yes, you're financially a mess and you want those Jimmy Choos, but face it, you don't go pretending to be a billionaire's girlfriend just to impress the staff. His name may be legend around town, but it's not your name to use! At least he doesn't know about it...or does he. Max Parker is used to hearing his name used in the City. He's a man of wealth who men want to be and women want to be with. He knows something about Charlotte that intrigues him and he just happens to run into her often, setting her up with questions she doesn't want to answer. But, oh, that kiss! As payback for her lies, Max tells her she will be his fake girlfriend and fiancé, with minimal details. They exchange clever and hilarious emails and texts, and I can't remember the last time I've laughed so hard. There's more that Charlotte has to learn about Max. The secret he carries is a fitting twist that had me near tears, and the shock that Charlotte experiences is so real. The conclusion is touching and it's just the beginning of their story!
I listened to the audiobook and it is beautifully narrated by Laurie West. All of the voices are well-modulated and full of life. I particularly like her take on the constant texts and emails between Charlotte and Max. Truly enjoyable!

"The Billionaire's Fake Fiance" (The Alpha Boyfriends Book 1) by J. S. Cooper is a great story. I loved Max and Charlotte's story. This is a great start to this series. This story has romance, passion, humor, close friends, billionaires, entertaining characters, and more. I can't wait to see what happens next in this series. Highly recommend to all fans of romance, billionaires, and series.
