A Warhammer Age of Sigmar novel

The War of Life affects all in Ghyran - even the underwater kingdoms of the Idoneth Deepkin. With battle raging, Prince Lurien seizes his chance to take the Jade Throne of Briomdar - but can he overcome his foes and his fellow Deepkin to claim his prize?

Listen to it because:

Dive beneath the oceans of the Mortal Realms to discover the politics and life of the Idoneth Deepkin in the first novel to explore their culture and motivations in depth.

The story:

Deep beneath the oceans of Ghyran, in kingdoms forgotten by gods and time and overlooked by the ravages of Chaos, the Idoneth Deepkin endure in bitter solitude. However, the Jade Throne of Briomdar sits empty, its long isolation threatened as never before in its history. The Everqueen’s warsong awakens the forests of both land and sea, and everywhere the diseased knights of Nurgle fight to the last foetid breath for the verdant Realm they claim as theirs. But for Prince Lurien this time of peril is one ripe with opportunity. It will take every drop of wit, guile and treachery the prince has to overcome not only the myriad foes of the Idoneth but his fellow Deepkin as well.

First things first, the narrator did an excellent job. I don't have much time to sit down and read so listening is my primary way of getting into these books. The range of voices was astounding and allowed me a great deal of imagery. This book was such a roller coaster of emotion and plot as usual in Warhammer books I've come to enjoy but the feelings never lessen. A great book!

This is as good as a 40k novel & is a truly fascinating story! the author did a excellent job of describing the undersea environment and different perspectives it brings to everything. the character's are incredibly well built and nerration in very distinct from each character. In short an amazing listen and I'm new to Age of Sigmar so this is from a fresh bias free perspective. As much as some people like to moan and complain about Sigmarines this is something very different so if you want truly unique fantastic world building this is your jam!

Intricately Woven Game of Thrones in the deep

Loved how it gave a glimpse into the world of the Idoneth Deepkin. Makes you want to know more about them.

Great book about the Deepkin

The Court of the Blind King is an enjoyable adventure through a unique undersea world.

A fun fantasy adventure

The voice actor was more skilled then these parts allowed him to show. Several of the voices were really hard to listen to, yells, screams, or shouts were laughably performed, and I blame the directing. The story was generally well written, but unremarkable. A fine "buble gum" read.

Fine plot, generally good voice work, inconsistent

fantastic book. the author did a great job making the story compelling, showing how these very alien and different take on classic elves interact with each other, the various factions, and the world around them. I didn't want the book to end

easily one of the best AOS or fantasy novels

Pros: -Interesting setting and culture -good use of IP -Likable main protagonist and sidekicks Cons: -confusingly written (too many similar names used all the time) -weird pace to the performance adding to the confusion -illogical plot twists

Illogical & hard to understand

loved story, some annoying audio inconsistencies with reader's volume. most of the time sounds fine, but sometimes became much lower and hard to hear

great story, some volume issues

A fantastic undersea story with unique characters, that I dont know if i am supposed love or hate, with motives and allegiances shifting as frequently as the tides. As a player of the army the novel follows, i can say it is a great descriptor, lucid in its glimpses into the culture and societal heirarchy of the Idoneth Deepkin and it opens the door to a variety of ideas for battle reenactments. I recommend this to all deepkin fans.

A Great First Idoneth Deepkin Novel

I found the book entertaining. it gives you a look at what Games-Workshop wants you to see about some of the Idoneth lore. The narrator doesn't have the widest range of voices for the characters, but it's good enough. The book is divided into parts which causes the story progresses very quickly. I did wish the main character grew and developed more, but such is life.

Good book overall
