Acerca de esta escucha
No one expected the devastation Hurricane Helene would cause to the mountains of Western North Carolina.
It was a one-thousand-year event that caused massive flooding and triggered thousands of landslides. More than two hundred thirty souls lost their lives. Countless others are still missing.
This is my story of survival during and after Hurricane Helene in Burnsville, North Carolina. It was a time when there was no power, water, cell phones, or outside communication at all. We were trapped in a seven-mile radius. All the roads to leave were destroyed.
It is the story of a community coming together and helping one another survive in the worst imaginable times. Our beautiful mountains will never be the same, but we will survive.
We will rebuild, Come Hell or High Water.

Historia
Written in a beautiful and engaging style, Seven Men addresses what it means (or should mean) to be a man today, at a time when media and popular culture present images of masculinity that are not the picture presented in Scripture and historic civil life. What does it take to be a true exemplar as a father, brother, husband, leader, coach, counselor, change agent, and wise man? What does it mean to stand for honesty, courage, and charity, especially at times when the culture and the world run counter to those values?

Historia
For years, Emma Carey was a regular young adult who would wake up and go about their day on autopilot, someone who would look at a sunset and feel unaffected, someone who was living, but not really alive. That is, until something happened that enabled her to really see life for the gift it is. Emma was in a skydiving accident that made her a paraplegic. This book is not just about Emma's fall from the sky and how she learned to walk without ever regaining feeling in her legs but also about the beliefs and ideas that helped her survive.

Historia
Alexander von Humboldt (1769-1859) was an intrepid explorer and the most famous scientist of his age. His restless life was packed with adventure and discovery, whether climbing the highest volcanoes in the world or racing through anthrax-infested Siberia. He came up with a radical vision of nature, that it was a complex and interconnected global force and did not exist for man's use alone. Ironically, his ideas have become so accepted and widespread that he has been nearly forgotten.

If you have ever wondered what would happened if you were in a disaster, read this short book. It hits home because this happened in our Appalachian Mountains.
A government dependent nation is not what is needed. People who are kind and good hearted and who also have the common sense to stay prepared is what is needed.
Our government is so messed up. 🙄
Government agents were told to actually skip houses in her area that had any sign of supporting Trump. In a free nation? You are not allowed freedom of speech without being chastised by your own government entities??? Wow 😮
This area is still trying to recover. Yet the USA 🇺🇸 sends millions and billions of dollars 💵 to other countries and helps immigrants more than its own citizens in the southeastern mountains?
If you cannot help your own citizens, cut out the extra aide and help the middle and lower class citizens of your own country.
We have to be able to stand on our own before we can really help others. That’s basic common sense. Right?
