Acerca de esta escucha

New York Times bestselling author Natasha Lester delivers a brilliant blend of feminism, fashion, and history in this bold novel set against the real-life designers’ showdown in Versailles in the 1970s.

French countryside, Present Day: Blythe Bricard is the daughter of famous fashion muses but that doesn't mean she wants to be one. She turned her back on that world, and her dreams, years ago. Fate, however, has a different plan, and Blythe will discover there is more to her iconic mother and grandmother than she ever knew.

New York, 1970: Designer Astrid Bricard arrives in bohemian Chelsea determined to change the fashion world forever. And she does―cast as muse to her lover, Hawk Jones. And when they're both invited to compete in the fashion event of the century―the Battle of Versailles―Astrid sacrifices everything to showcase her talent. But then, just as her career is about to take off, she mysteriously vanishes, leaving behind only a white silk dress.

Paris, 1917: Parentless sixteen year old Mizza Bricard has made a vow: to be remembered on her own terms. Her promise sustains her through turbulent decades and volatile couture houses until, finally, her name is remembered and a legend is born―one that proves impossible for Astrid and Blythe to distance themselves from.

This story held my interest from start to finish. This author was very thorough in her research which resulted in the creation of a book so worthy of satisfying many readers. The narration of this book was superb. I personally prefer reading books without inappropriate words. That is my reason for the four star overall rating. It is especially difficult to hear the words read aloud in the narration.

A very intriguing story

Natasha Lester has done it again! Three beautiful stories woven through time about three beautiful, iconic women! The narrator made the stories come to life. I loved every minute!

Loved the three tales in one

Astrid was a sad fictional character who constantly talked about how men made her less than she was. It was so over the top,to the point of being annoying. The Blyth character, also fictional, was blah. I never connected with her. The most interesting and inspiring character was the real person, Mizza Bricard. This was just an OK story because my expectations were set so high. I love Natasha Lester books that’s why I was disappointed that the Astrid character was such a victim.

Disappointing

Love a story about one family that spans generations. Reminds me of those mini series that used to come on television in the 80s.This one was even more special because it was about women overcoming adversity. It was an easy yet entertaining read.

Pop Culture Meets Historical Fiction

Too dragged out, predictable and nauseating happy ending for all. Could have been a nice story if someone edited and shorted it.

Predictable and way too long

This was hard for me to get into. It picked up a little halfway through but still lacking excitement.

A bit boring
