Acerca de esta escucha

In The Final Encyclopedia the human race is split into three Splinter cultures: the Friendlies, fanatic in their faith; the truth-seeking Exotics; and the warrior Dorsai. But now humanity is threatened by the power-hungry Others, whose triumph would end all human progress.

Hal Mayne is an orphan who was raised by three tutors: an Exotic, a Friendly, and a Dorsai. He is the only human capable of uniting humanity against the Others. But only if he is willing to accept his terrifying destiny... as savior of mankind.

A towering landmark of future history, The Final Encyclopedia is a novel every SF fan needs to own....

My favorite sci-fi book of all time. Have read and listened to the book many times.

Best

Well written and well narrated. The style is a little old, so there is a lot of exposition, the author does tend to drone on about what he’ll do instead of showing you, but that’s a function of the style of writing at the time, I think. It does not detract from the quality of the storyline and the depth of the characters. No cardboard people in this one. Well done.

Good ole fashioned Sci-Fi

Love this series. Read thru twice. First time being listened to. On to the next.

A Favorite Author

The story characters. The narrator’s voice is perfect for this series. This series should be made into a movie. The narrator makes the story come alive.

Excellent production and story brought to life.

Thirty plus years ago, when I first read The Final Encyclopedia, I was unaware of the deep philosophical undertones of this great work. Dixon wrote about people and motivation in this series wrapped in a light cloak of Science Fiction. Now, thirty-five years later, because of the lightness of that cloak, the story has lost nothing and his future technology is still plausible all these years later. especially if you think of the final encyclopedia itself as a quantum computer. this work is every bit as philosophically powerful in its own way as Atlas Shrugged is in its way.

Philosophical experience on par w/Atlas Shrugged
