The result is a fascinating biography of people and landscape, from prehistory to the present day, of generation piled upon generation of human endeavour in the making of place. Stephen Harrison lives and works in the East Riding of Yorkshire. He has published widely on Yorkshire history and his most recent publication has been a biography of the early Yorkshire archaeologist 'J R Mortimer'.
