Acerca de esta escucha

Bob Woodward exposes one of the final pieces of the Richard Nixon puzzle in his new book, The Last of the President's Men. Woodward reveals the untold story of Alexander Butterfield, the Nixon aide who disclosed the secret White House taping system that changed history and led to Nixon's resignation. In 46 hours of interviews with Butterfield, supported by thousands of documents, many of them original and not in the presidential archives and libraries, Woodward has uncovered new dimensions of Nixon's secrets, obsessions, and deceptions.

The Last of the President's Men could not be more timely and relevant as voters question: How much do we know about those who are now seeking the presidency in 2016 - what really drives them, how do they really make decisions, who do they surround themselves with, and what are their true political and personal values?

history never ends

So interesting and with all of the documents and time spent in interviews, I was surprised that it was not longer.

Amazing the parallel between them and now on some of the jargon coming from the White House and ways of deflecting people and things they don't like.

Highly recommend for those of you, like me, who find that period of history so fascinating.

Wish it had been longer

This story of the disclosure of the Nixon White House taping system is very well done. The perspectives are well worth the time!

Takes me back to that fascinating time and reveals, at last, the motivations and intentions of Alexander Butterfield, the man who told the truth about the White House tapes.

Completes the story

Typical good writing and story telling from Woodward, fills in a lot of the Watergate details.

As soon as I finished listening to Cassidy Hutchinson’s book, I started this one. She had been inspired by it and read it 3 times. The last line in Cassidy Hutchinson’s book left me in tears. She visited Alexander Butterfield at his home in California. She held this book. It had inspired her to become a truth-teller. She was emotional. They hugged. He consoled her, saying (something to the effect of) “It’s ok. You’re home.” Thank you, Bob Woodward. Thank you Alex Butterfield. Thank you, Cassidy Hutchinson. 💜💜💜

Thank you, Cassidy Hutchinson

I had just listened to enough by Cassidy Hutchinson. There are such parallels between these 2 American hero’s separated by 50 years. Integrity and speaking truth to power… why are there not more like them.

American hero

You wouldn’t think it would be possible after so long and with so much already written but this book really does provide fresh perspectives on Nixon and the era. The reading is crisp, clear, and the hours listening fly by.

Amazing insights

I had no idea about Alex Butterfield and the pivotal role he’s played in the history of our democracy. I want to thank Bob Woodward for his wonderful and insightful book about this time. I encouraged anyone with an interest in our democracy to read this book. It gives me hope that we will survive what we’re going through now with the MAGA republicans trying to overthrow our government and democracy.

A good book
