The world of Orithin is large, mysterious, and chaotic, full of Outland Monsters hunting creatures of light.
To become the Crown Prince of Absalom, Aerrow Fionn must officially undergo the trials of the Dragon Knight, despite his fears of the monsters outside their borders. During the trials, however, he finds that danger is closer to home than he expected. Monsters are suddenly more active than ever, within the walls of the kingdom – his fears come knocking.

We spend most of the story in Aerrow's POV, and while the things that happen change him, he remains tryecto who he started out as. The side characters are all well-written and full of surprises. There are moments of drama, action, a touch of romance, and humor.
The worldbuilding for Orithin is detailed and expansive, but easily understood.
With all the monsters, naturally there are plenty of fight scenes. They are as vividly described as the rest of the story, so there is some yuck factor.
As the story unfolds, Aerrow must face his demons, inner and real, as he grows into what he must become.
Benjamin Fife's talent lends itself perfectly to the narrative and characters. He adds emotion and urgency to the story. His ability to voice so many different characters consistently always impresses me.

Language: Fbombs, the sheer amount of language makes this easily R rated
Violence: R rated level of gore; very descriptive
Sexual content: allusions but no scenes
Interesting story, characters are ok though their development was iffy for such a long first book. The action segments are well written, the world is described in a workable manner though it could be explained better. My biggest problem is that there is such a large ebb and flow to the story overall. You’ll think the tale is wrapping up and then things will shift to the “wait! There’s more!” category (or you’ll check and see that there are HOURS left). This happens so much that by the time this first book finishes you sit there thinking “are you sure this is where you want to leave things for a second book?!” I’m torn on if I’d want to invest time into a second book… I’m intrigued by the story but the ebb and flow was really off putting.
Narrator: has really good differentiations

Could stand to be divided into shorter books maybe?
