I am not sure that The Memoirs are as good the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. But it is still Sherlock Holmes and I am pretty sure that I would have enjoyed the book if it had not been for an insufferable narration. First there is a so so audio quality: the narrator seems to be speaking through a tin can. Then there is the rhythm, the cadence, all off beat: the man as no sense of timing. Then the tone: both Holmes and Watson sounds supremely bored, stand-offish, and, dismissive for no reason at all. The narrator doesn't always distinguishes the characters by voice. Holmes's voice made my skin crawl after two minutes: It's too high pitched and nasal. Did I mention the sniffles and the noise of shuffling pages? Okay, I think you got the picture. I am not recommending this audiobook.

I am a great fan of Holmes, but this narrator is so hard to listen to, I just couldn't finish the book.
