Acerca de esta escucha

The Kaddish has long been considered to be a special prayer for the dead. It isn't. Those who recite the prayer faithfully for 52 Friday nights after the death of a loved one may wonder why there is no place for the name of the deceased in the prayer. This book contains much new information on the Kaddish, including how it was created during the Crusades as an homage to God.

This book meet my expectations as far as the history of Kaddish. There were a good amount of Chasidish stories related to Kaddish, as well as some older sources.

Good background on Kaddish

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Read in a pleasant coherent manner. Content of story is disappointing, a mambo-jumbo collection of legends, saying some history and some people personal events - All ashkenazi without exception (Jews from Eastern Europe who passed the holocaust). It is not doing justice or honor not to God, not to religion, and definitely not to Judaism. Stupid sayings like: if you drink 96 percent proof alcohol at the beginning of the day you are cleansed from your sins and starting with a new slate.. that is rubbish..

What do you think your next listen will be?

I feel it is a waste of an audio book. Would not listen to it again.

What does George Guidall bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I love George Guidall - that's why I bought the book.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

No. It is not doing justice or honor not to God, not to religion, and definitely not to Judaism. Stupid sayings like: if you drink 96 percent proof alcohol at the beginning of the day you are cleansed from your sins and starting with a new slate.. that is rubbish..

Any additional comments?

Disrespectful undertones to religion tradition and history.

Fragmented collection of legends and sayings
