Acerca de esta escucha

Nicholas Courtney, the man behind Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart, remembers his time on Doctor Who, from The Web of Fear to Battlefield - and beyond!

He's seen off Daleks, Cybermen and Yeti. He's witnessed Giant Robots running amok, met himself in the future and saved the world from the life-devouring Destroyer. He is, of course, Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, alias actor Nicholas Courtney.

After five decades of acting alongside far more than just the eight television Doctors (nothing compared to the likes of Frankie Howerd, Donald Wolfit and Michael Winner), this is his story. His personal recollections of his life on and off the stage, read to you by that most gentlemanly of gentlemen, Nicholas Courtney....

Directed by: Gary Russell.

What can one say? Courtney's autobio, which he narrates so well, is thoughtful, funny, interesting, entertaining--and short! This is likely a good thing. Brief, brisk chapters make for a page turner, so to speak. You won't want to stop listening.
What an adventure, through shows and programs and plays--and life, with all of the ups and downs. (We learn why Courtney had the acting and voice acting chops he had.) So, he weaves this all together with effortless prose, and his voice and manner are arresting to be sure.
Upshot? Nicholas Courtney is absolutely charming. We're lucky this was put together (thanks Big Finish and Audible). He's a treasure.
