Acerca de esta escucha

"[Katherine Littrell's] narration seamlessly moves between Australian and Kentucky accents, allowing individual characters to shine." (AudioFile magazine)

"The Nowhere Child is a well-written thriller that avoids the clichés of the genre. The characters are interesting and believable and the book kept me reading up to the satisfying conclusion." (Phillip Margolin, New York Times best-selling author of The Third Victim)

Winner of the Victorian Premier’s Literary Award, The Nowhere Child is screenwriter Christian White’s internationally best-selling debut thriller of psychological suspense about a woman uncovering devastating secrets about her family - and her very identity....

Kimberly Leamy is a photography teacher in Melbourne, Australia. Twenty-six years earlier, Sammy Went, a two-year-old girl vanished from her home in Manson, Kentucky. An American accountant who contacts Kim is convinced she was that child, kidnapped just after her birthday. She cannot believe the woman who raised her, a loving social worker who died of cancer four years ago, crossed international lines to steal a toddler.

On April 3, 1990, Jack and Molly Went’s daughter Sammy disappeared from the inside their Kentucky home. Already estranged since the girl’s birth, the couple drifted further apart as time passed. Jack did his best to raise and protect his other daughter and son while Molly found solace in her faith. The Church of the Light Within, a Pentecostal fundamentalist group that handles poisonous snakes as part of its worship, provided that faith. Without Sammy, the Wents eventually fell apart.

Now, with proof she and Sammy are in fact the same person, Kim travels to America to reunite with a family she never knew she had. And to solve the mystery of her abduction - a mystery that will take her deep into the dark heart of religious fanaticism where she must fight for her life against those determined to save her soul....

This was truly the best book I have read (listened to) for a long time. Kept me interested and guessing until the end. Fresh writing style, hope there are many more books to come!

This is a well-written thriller. The plot goes places you don’t expect and is very fulfilling by the end. I loved it.

Very good writing!

Excellent story!I nearly stepped away with the 'faith healing ' and 'casting out of demons' as it was a real and scarey part of MY childhood, but I went on and am glad I did. This was an excellent story of how our pasts define us,even if we think we have escaped it. There were so many twists and turns,it kept you guessing until near the end. Katherine Littrell was a fine narrator.I was given this book by the narrator, author or publisher free for an honest review.

Everything about this book was excellent. I found the sub-stories just as powerful as the initial content provided in the description.

Engaging and insightful

I really enjoyed this authors 2 books available on Audible Plus: Second Skin and Still House. Remembering those books, I wanted to try another one of his books and I am glad I did. This book was twisty and suspenseful and kept me guessing until the end. I could not stop listening and the end was satisfying.

The narrator was really great at Australian part of the book, she wasn’t bad for American part but it was obvious that American accent wasn’t her native one. But, I thought she did a pretty good job in southern accent.

Glad I bought this

This is a lovely book - there is mystery, murder and mayhem, plenty of intriguing characters, but, there are so many other things going on - different stories that pull you in - Great Job Christian, I’m waiting for the next one!

Loved it! More Please!

I liked this a lot more than I thought I would (based on the cover, which is how I decide what to read, obviously).

I liked the whole thing, was fully engaged the entire time & finished it quickly. Fantastic narration & impressed that the author wrote this after reading Stephen King’s “On Writing.” Bravo to you sir!

One lame thing is that the town is called Manson and the misunderstood neighbor has the last name “Echols” (west Memphis 3 ref). Both a bit too cute but whatever, it didn’t affect the story I just couldn’t not comment on it.

Impressed!
