If you could sum up The Power of a Positive Mom in three words, what would they be?
This book is very reflective in how Christian Mothers should view their role as a mom.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, I listened to a chapter at a time

Any additional comments?
I did like a lot of the possible ways she suggested we deal with life's situations and filling our children with love, positives, and not look for fault. If I have any complaints about the book it would be that it is like going to Sunday school and having the priest answer the question, "why does God let bad things happen?" Instead of getting an answer, we are encouraged to accept everything as God's will and what our confined expectations are as "good Christians".

I did not expect to be a book full of God's wisdom and guidance for it speaks truth about the mistakes we do when raising our children...it doesn't matter what stage one is in terms of our children development or if one is a single mother or a married one...we all go thru the same.
Lately I have questioned my self in terms of my motherhood... and God gave me an answer.
Thank you!

The concept of being a positive parent is a good one. There is some good content here, but had to be significantly filtered for a modern parent. The reading voice felt condescending and hard to listen to. I read this for a church mom’s group. I was supposed to take content from it to speak for several weeks. I took the topic and found more relatable examples and sources. There is power in what she has to say, it’s just lost in the 70’s/80’s context.

I found this book very difficult to listen to. The author's Pollyanna attitude really got on my nerves. I am a Christian mother, but I am not naive enough to believe that positive thinking is the answer to all things. The reality is that life is sometimes stressful and not fun, but you get through it with prayer and putting one foot in front of the other. All I got from this book was a guilt trip for not having a smile on my face all the time. I think it's good for our kids to realize we are real people, and sometimes we are weak. Then when they face their own trials as adults, they don't feel like failures when they have negative emotions. I believe in being positive, but I don't believe in putting up a front for my family.

Please keep in mind that I didn't listen to the whole thing -- I tried -- so perhaps the second half is better than the first... perhaps.

Pass the corn syrup, please

This book is a bible recital for stay at home moms and seems to have been written in the 1920s as it seriously undermines the position of women in society. If you are looking for practical tips, then this is a waste of time and money. According to the writer the power of a positive mom comes down to one thing; you are doing this for God and he will thank you in the end. If you are a working mother, you may even find this book offensive.
