So many thousands of books deifying Abraham Lincoln have been published that it is nearly impossible for the average citizen to learn much of anything that is truthful about Lincoln’s presidency.
This book should create doubt in anyone’s mind over the designation of Abraham Lincoln as America’s greatest president. Some may even decide that he was the worst.
You’ll learn that Lincoln promised to protect slavery forever in his first inaugural address by endorsing the “Corwin Amendment” to the Constitution, which would have prohibited the federal government from ever interfering with Southern slavery. It should rightly be known as Lincoln’s “slavery forever” speech.
You’ll learn that the real reason why Lincoln launched an invasion of his own country (he never admitted that secession was legal or legitimate) was to destroy the voluntary union of the founders and replace it with a coerced union held together by violence and threats of violence, much more like the old Soviet Union than the original American union.
You were probably not taught in school that by waging total war on Southern civilians and bombing Southern cities into a smoldering ruin, Lincoln violated all moral codes and international law regarding waging war on civilians and opened the door to the horrific atrocities of 20th-century warfare.
Finally, Professor DiLorenzo introduces listeners to the real Abraham Lincoln.

If anyone can come away from reading this book and still believe in the cultural deification of 16th president they must either be a priest in the cult or a master of denial and cognitive dissonance.

But seriously, this is the sort of presentation that really needs to be challenged (and this goes for the coverage and interpretation of various historical individuals, events, and topics from "the other sides") and so while I am not lambasting this work outright, I do think it would make a stronger case with less cherry picking and more persuasive argument, in a form similar to that found in a courtroom or a debate or similar. Referring on every page to the suspension of habeas corpus (which is broadly acknowledged as a bad idea in hindsight, though infringing on rights in the name of liberty and security... well, there's a B.Franklin quote to paraphrase about that, and certainly more books written) undermines the credibility of the work (as does the lack of specificity, though this is an audio book, but repetition of the same details smacks of a rant rather than the construction of a legitimate case), in my opinion.
For me, the most interesting thing I think, was the mention of the faces on the Lincoln Memorial, and the document on the nps.gov (National Parks Service) website that actually links the use of this symbology in the memorial structures and fascism... I'll leave that as an exercise for the reader, but it is there, and as with most words and symbols and ideas and political parties and whatnot, it is perhaps a critical component when using them to make a point, to make use of the item in the context of the time(s)... much like "Party of Lincoln" means what exactly?, I would be interested to know what the placement of the symbol and its intended meaning(s) were in the context of the time the memorial was constructed, rather than having it (and the nps.gov description) used to make a point in a context starting in the first half of the 20th century...

This presentation is enjoyable, well executed and highly informative. Having read “Lincoln Unmasked” and the “Real Abraham Lincoln” in print form by this author I highly recommend all of his work as he is thoughtful and fair letting the evidence speak for itself.
Thank you!!!!!!!
