The Prophet is a masterpiece of poetic prose written by Lebanese born; American Poet: Kahlil Gibran - exploring social morality through the lense of a profoundly moving spirit. The audiobook invites the listener to reimagine The Prophet through the voice of Almitra as it was originally written.
The words of The Prophet have been spoken in marriage ceremonies, used to explain birth and death, and given even more depth and breadth to love, joy and sorrow. It expounds on the social morays of law, clothing, work, crime and punishment, food and beverages, housing, philanthropy, friendship, teaching, taking time, buying and selling and coming to personal understanding through self knowledge.
With the teachings of The Prophet, Gibran shares his wisdom on marriage and children; reminds us of the balance between reason and passion; explores good and evil, prayer, religion and pain. Above all, The Prophet reminds us of the treasures of beauty, freedom and pleasure.
Since 1923, The Prophet has sold millions of copies in more than twenty languages. The timeless wisdom has enlightened, as well as inspired for nearly a century and - as with most truths - will do so for centuries to come.

The music took me to another world. I could listen to a whole CD of just the music but then add the narrator's rich, soulful voice and I am hooked. Listening to Emma Dawn narrate this book transported me to the feet of The Prophet with the realness and passion in her delivery. It was obvious to me that it is a book the narrator loved as much as I do.
I will listen to this again and again! So good and the perfect length for an afternoon escape.
Almitra's point of view? Mind Blown!
