*2023's MOST ANTICIPATED SUMMER READ*

'You will love The Rachel Incident' GABRIELLE ZEVIN, author of Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow

'Funny, lovely, romantic, drenched in nostalgia' MARIAN KEYES

The Rachel Incident is an all-consuming love story. But it's not the one you're expecting. It's unconventional and messy. It's young and foolish. It's about losing and finding yourself. But it is always about love.

When Rachel falls in love with her married professor, Dr Byrne, her best friend James helps her devise a plan to seduce him. But what begins as a harmless crush soon pushes their friendship to its limits. Over the course of a year they will find their lives ever more entwined with the Byrnes' and be faced with impossible choices and a lie that can't be taken back...

'Perfectly captures the intensity and high and lows of first love, and it's also very, very funny' RED MAGAZINE

'Chaos at its finest' STYLIST

THE RACHEL INCIDENT by Caroline O'Donoghue is a sharp, poignant and beautifully told story of losing yourself, finding yourself and the lengths we will go to for those we love.

Such a refreshing book. No huge dramas, no death, or torture just the agony of growing up. Beautifully read.

Light and beautifully told.

It’s getting exhausting starting books that seem promising and then they randomly turn into explicit descriptions of adult acts. If that’s what you’re into reading, this might be a great read for you. But if you’re not interested in it, it’s rather unpleasant. Glad I didn’t pay for this title.

Disappointingly and surprisingly explicit

I loved the friendship between Rachel and James, the conflict in the Dr Burns storyline and the angst of the young adult romance between Rachel and Kerry.

I enjoyed this contemporary novel so much

I really loved this book and it was light, whitty and engaging! I will probably read it again at some point!

Fresh and fun with a twist

It’s been a long time since a book has left me screaming for more due to the wicked cliffy at the end. It’s definitely poignant to the story at that point though. A complex, multilayered novel about relationships and their ultimate value. The cast is incredible and so well developed. At times it feels like being a voyeur into these lives of love, betrayal, sex, miscommunication, unconditional friendship, co-dependency and loss.

Clara Harte’s narration was excellent. Her ability to give each character their own distinctive voice provided an incredible depth to both the cast and the story!!

Wow Brilliant

I loved the narration. Interesting story and well told. Lovely to remember student life and the pub scene in Dublin back in the day.
