Acerca de esta escucha

In this new audiobook, broadcaster and music writer Alan Cross narrates the definitive history of The Ramones. Cross succeeds once again in revealing the fascinating history behind the music in the same compelling way we've come to expect from his long broadcasting career.Rock on: listen to another Alan Cross Guide.©2009 Alan Cross (P)2009 HarperCollins Canada Música Celebridad

Reseñas editoriales

Syndicated radio broadcaster and music expert Alan Cross uses the analogy of Johnny Appleseed to describe how the Ramones "seeded punk" across the U.S. His description could not be more apt. It seems that wherever Johnny, Joey, Dee Dee, and Tommy Ramone played during the 1970s and '80s, a handful of punk bands sprang up in their wake.

In this episode of the Alan Cross Guide to Alternative Rock, Cross covers the background of the band (when Johnny and Dee Dee befriended each other on a construction site in 1974) as well as its enormous influence. Cross quotes early reviews of the Ramones sound by New York City music critics and describes the band himself as "Beach Boys on the combination of crank and glue".

Many of his facts are not accurate. The most blatant was when he states that Joey was beaten on the street as he was coming to the aid of a woman in distress. Actually it was Johnny who was beaten after finding his girlfriend with another guy. It’s a shame that no facts are checked on these publications.

He should check his facts
